So..............
June 9th, my wife is driving from Visalia to Bakersfield and when she in the middle of nowhere hit's something and gets a flat! She calls me frantic and doesn't know what to do!
I ask if she is ok and in a safe spot, she replied yes. I asked what happend?
She said she hit something then her tire pressure gauge for Left Rear tire showed low then 0 psi.
I asked her to take a pic of the tire if in a safe place to do so. She does and the tire actually doesn't look flat and I was trying to remember if I got her run/flats?
where are you and is there a town close by??
She said about 3 miles down is an exit...there's a chevron station. I said put your hazards on and stay to the right and don't go over 30.
She does and get's there. I tell her to check the tire with her gauge and it shows 35 psi. Wierd and her Tire sensor sadi left rear. Check the other tire....HOLY CRAP!!!
The tire sensors didn't get recalibrated from when her tires were rotated side to side.
I told her to order a flat bed from AAA and I was finding an Americas tire near.
Turns out there was one in Bakersfield...perfect since she had to be there for her next Audit.
I call them they tell me they have 1 tire the size she needs...perfect! I'll take it.

She get's the new tire put on and off she goes........This were the story should end!
June 11th she gets home...we don't even think about anything with her car, I'm just glad she's home safe and they were able to replace the tire without waiting 2 days to get it.
The following week she heads to the airport...car was barely driven. she made some random close work trips then she tells me her rim is all messed up!
She remembers the guys at America's tire saying it was hard to get her lug nuts off and all of them need to be replaced!
WTF???? Never heard of that one.
We look at her car and I swear it looks like the rim was taken off with a screwdriver! I'm about to go through the roof...I take pics and then pics of the other rims/tires and how they all look good except for this one where the tire was replaced!
I call them up the next day and the guy, service manager says...I don't know, send me pics! He'll look at it. You can clearly see from the shredded tire that the rim is fine, then now it is all chunked.
Afterwards, I drive the car as we go to dinner to celebrate our 20th anniversary...hit a dip and there was some weird noise from the rear right!
Cheryl said it has been like that from when she left America's Tire in Bakersfield and thought it must be something loose in the trunk????
I said I would take a look when we got home!
HOLY SH*TBALLS...What THE EFF??????
Embedded in her fender well was a 4" bolt that most likely caused the flat in the first place, was still there!
How the EFF did these guys miss that when changing the tire???
Emailed them again since they didn't get back to me with a did you notice the Bolt in the fender-well???

4 days later, still nothing from them.
So today I called, talked to the service manager....he seemed put off that I was calling him!
I asked him about the pics...he said the other guy looked at them and he was just opening them!
I said I want to you look at the first pic of the original flat tire, becasue I am about to GO NUCLEAR ON YOU GUYS!!!!!!!
He said...yeah the rim looks fine there!
I said, yes....but LOOK REAL CLOSE....YOU SEE THAT 4" BOLT Stuck in her Fender well that you guys left in there and let her drive off with...that could have shredded her new tire or cause an accident?????
I hear him GASP!!!!!!
His demeanor changed real quick!! And said it was approved to order a new rim and that he was doing it this afternoon!
Uh, huh! Thank you.
Let me know when it comes in and I'll have you ship it to the America's tire in Orange so they can do the swap!
See pics

Damn dude, the bolt still in there is crazy. Looks like they used an industrial 1" impact on the lug nuts?

if I were you I would still be calling corporate office............ that is some Bullsheet. the dude that changed that tire absolutely saw that bolt.......... no Effing way he missed that............

After I get confirmation, the rim is being sent to Orange, I'm gonna ask who the Eff did this and why is that guy still employed???

Yeah, messing up the wheel is B.S.

As for the bolt. Did you notice the bolt?? How is the bolt the tire shop's issue? It's your (wife's) car. Messing up the rim is on the tire shop, further maintenance is on the vehicle owner. What would you say if you took this to court? "Your honor, they only fixed the tire, like I instructed them to. They didn't fix my other issues." Lack of common sense? Sure. Doubt they're liable for the condition of your vehicle, besides the wheel they messed up.

Either way, sounds like the tire shop is making good on the matter.

every one of these guys you have to watch. I had my sons silverado in for tire rotation one time. I look out and the guy had run the damn floor jack up under the motor for the electric steps. completely effed it up, and I was like how the hell do you not see that's not right? They fixed it, and replaced a center cap or 2 that came off another time. they don't seem to care, it happens.
and the lug nut deal is real, they swell on some models, there's 1/2 size impacts for this. I ordered mine from ebay and put them on the daughters car, because the last thing i need is to have her on the side of the road, fumbling thru a flat, and not being able to get the damn thing off lol. but AAA is a lifesaver lol.

I had a tires shop ruin my daughters lug nuts, I had to replace them all. I didn't know they were messed up until I did a tire rotation and brakes. Wrong size sprocket thrashed them, and they were way too tight.

@AZCG , common sense aside (and yea I know what year it is....) I wpuld think this to be a liability issue. They installed a new tire into a hazardous condition and didn't even mention it to the owner.

What would happen if she had an accident and there were deaths??? IMO it would have been their fault. Would have a court seen it that way??? Depends on the lawyers...

This is nothing compared to the tire shop dropping my 3/4 truck off the lift and effing it up. Sucks but at least these are easy repairs that don’t leave a lasting impression

Um....WOW!
Ok, Let's say you get shot but you don't know what hit you....just out of the blue you feel a pain and now your bleeding??
You go to the hospital and they sew you up and ends up there is a bullet in there, but hey, the doctors just have to deal with the wound, the bullet is on you!

REALLY??????

There was a clear obstruction especially when the tire is removed...how they did not see it and deal with that???? That could be a potential issue that wasn't dealt with is beyond me! And the fact that the guy crammed the tire balancing machine on so tight it effed up the rim, obviously not paying attention but that's ok too?????
But, hey you'd be ok with that and maybe your wife's tire would blow and cause an accident...that's on you huh????

(y)

I think the dimwit that balanced the tire shoved it on the machine...they are all uniform and in the same spot!
i even thought that too but the balancer just uses a big cone that goes down the center of the rim. my thought was a simple ratchet that had too short of a socket and the head of the ratchet hit the rim both removing and installing-- but even that would be hard to believe

yup, commonsense is no so common these days. People a DUMB!!!!!

Discount tire recently upsold my daughter on lug nuts when she was putting tires on her 2019 ford fiesta. The car didnt need lug nuts. They installed the wrong style that didnt hold the plastic wheel covers on and she lost two of them. $200 later of Dads money, when i went to install the covers i found the wrong nuts installed. Another $100 of my money to fix their problem correctly and all fixed. That reminds me i need to huck those wrong lugnuts through their window one of these days.

Yep Discount tried to pull that upsell for lug nuts to my Girlfriend as well. She called and I told her tell them NO, They tried to upsell them again after she hung up the phone.

She got home and was upset they had her scared that the wheels would fall off her car for no reason. I asked her did they make you sign something acknowledging that the lug nuts needed to be replaced? No, well that's because they don't !!!!!!!

Yea, the place where the old lady throws the tire/wheel through the shops window in their own (older) commercial :ROFLMAO:
Sorrry that you had to go through it and glad nobody was hurt due to incompent employes. Discount/America's tire ARE the worst by far
