That's how long I was in surgery for my knee Tuesday. Started at 1 and rolled into a room at 9pm. Walking by 8am Wed., and today able to walk without any assisting device. It's been a 1.5yr saga, this being the 4th time they cut me open, 🙏 it's the last.. Back to physical therapy on Monday morning...yea!😂🙄
I am enjoying the US Open though.

Anybody else been through a TKR/TKA replacement? How was your experience.

From what I hear, you never get used to the click.....

Yep, including this newest one(so far), all 3 have clicked. See how it does when all the swelling recedes. Hasn't bothered me all that much nor do I really feel it. It just happens randomly, mostly early morning when first getting out of bed.

Holy chit, congrats (I think) and heal up fast!

Heal up dude..looks painful.

Dam it. That photo hurts. Get busy getting better.

Cheers.

Ouch! Rehab is your most important ingredient! Get after it. Peace
Been doing rehab and prehab 3x a week for the past year & half. Went into this one with good muscle strength so recovery should be quicker. I only took this one week of surgery off & get back at it Monday.

Don't over due the rehab, and definitely follow your doctors post surgery inst. My good friend died when he broke his leg, and thought he knew better than the doctors, and started rehabbing to soon. His wife found him in the bathroom unresponsive with his brace off and tried CPR, but could not resuscitate him. She was a surgical nurse. Tragic situation. I couldn't believe it. He was in perfect health beside the broken leg.

Doctors these days don't want patients sitting around, rather to keep it moving by flexing/extending and putting as much weight as tolerable on it otherwise it gets stiff & tight. Hospital PT walked me around twice the morning after before my release.
I blew out this knee in 1979 and never had the acl fixed. I put this off for decades due to fears. We had an rdp member pass away who had similar issues with staph infection as I did, fortunately the infectious disease docs were able to iradicate mine but it took two attempts...hense the 4 surgeries.

Damn! Had a shoulder replaced 2 years ago, fairly certain left knee happening soon.

I should of added that he wasn't supposed to do ANY kind of rehab, or to take off brace after his surgery by the Ortho for at least 2 more weeks. They believe it was a possible blood clot that was formed due to the removal of brace and use of leg before it was ready.

Oh man, that sucks. I'm so sorry to read that. 🥺 My condolences to wife & family.
I have used leg cuffs that off/on squeeze my calves & they got me on baby aspirin 2x daily to prevent clotting. Essentially, for me they want me as active as I feel comfortable. I walked within a few hours of the first surgery with a walker out to the car.

My buddy had total knee replacement a month or so ago. No cartilage. Pretty much bone abd bone. And too the point his hip was starting to get jacked from over compensating.
Out of the hospital he felt awesome. Then the drugs wore off. But hes doing good considering. And much better than he was before.
I started running a couple years ago. Ended up doing a marathon in February. Towards the end of the training my knee swole up. Mind you I have had 2 acls and I cartilage. Used peptides to finish out my training and hit my goals in the marathon.
After wards I had persistent swelling. Went and saw knee replacement doc. He laughed and said if we do the surgery i wont be able tO be as active as i am. Its just arthritis and said to stop running so much.
Im back running, playing softball, doing some home PT, as well as peptides.
Ill probably get the kee replaced once im ready to be done.. or it just hurts too much. Maybe another 10 years.
Good luck on the recovery. Looks like you have done it right by starting PT before the surgery.

I've basically been doing PT for the entire past 1.5yrs because after each surgery it was sorta like starting over strengthwise. Between the 3rd & this 4th surgery the PT we focused on was to help recovery easier. I'm already walking 70-75% normalish in just 5 days. Have not taken any narcotics, just a few Tylenol because the wife insists😄 I'd be fine without any IMHO. In fact, I've been lucky in the sense of pain, it has been very little to none throughout all 4 of the surgeries. Mild discomfort at worst but nothing that actually bothers me.

One week after knee replacement and took a nearly 2 mile walk at the beach today. No fricken walker, no cane, just my two legs. Still have my bandage on that's attached to wound-vacuum that Ihave to carry with me 24/7. No pain. 😎
