I just can't make this stuff up

I had a post where I had lost a couple properties I handle, but I kept a couple, as a side gig.
One is a storage facility.
Today I go over at 8am, and see my buddy over there, we shoot the bull for a few minutes and I tell him I'm headed to work on a fence at a gated community for old folks.
We part, I go do my thing, and come back to storage, grab my lawn trailer and go home to mow my yard and another I take care of.
Go back to storage, to park my trailer, and I always drive by this car hauler and kept thinking I need to reach out to this guy and see if we can do some cash/trading.
So I park in inside my unit, and leave down the street to eat lunch.
About 230 I get a call from a guy, hey i'm sure you know but the se fence is down. I said are you sure you got the right place, and he chuckled and said ya.
So I drive over to find this, and it had to have happened from when i left to when he called.
As I drive the lot, looking for missing locks and stuff, I find nothing, any cars that run, are still there, couple rv's.
Well they stole a guys skid steer in broad effing daylight. They cut the posts and yanked the 30ft fence out into a field
You just can't make this crap up!!!!
All I could come up with was a pontoon boat the guy died and no contact so while I wait for a title from the courts, it will block the 30ft hole until my fence guy can get there!

Crazy. I hate thieves. Wish they would get caught red handed. It’s always my fear. Even living pretty remote.
 
I will tell you a funny story. About 15+ years ago I bought a mini x from a guy here on the board. It was for $10k. Said it was his mini but a previous friend bought it from him and made one payment and kept it. Said it was his now. He was mad and says the guy keeps it well blocked in every night. But because they were friends before it was easy for him to know what job his tractor was at. So he said he’s going to steal it back and sell it to me. The plan worked. One night he was able to do it. Sells it to me and I pay him cash. A few days later I’m at the dunes and I come back from a run I see I missed a few calls . one from my wife and one from an unknown number. I call my wife and she says I don’t know what you did but a few sheriffs are out our house and a helicopter is over our house. She said the police are trying to get a hold of me. So I call the other number and it was the sheriff and he starts asking me about how I got the tractor. I told him the whole thing about how this board member was stealing his equipment back. Turns out the board member had LoJack on the machine and forgot about it. The bad guy called up the police and reported his tractor missing and that triggered the sheriff. They told me they were going to impound and take the tractor as it’s stolen property and gave it back to the guy who only made 1 payment. And that it’s involved in a civil matter. What am I going to do from the dunes? They took it. luckily the guy I bought it from gave me my money back and he worked with the issue later. I finally bought a different mini x but for a while I thought I was screwed out of my money. Having equipment stolen is no joke!!

People are doing this all the time. Financing equipment, stop making payments and sell it for cash. Or similar forms of this. I'm on several equipment forums and this come up all the time. There is a website you can go to to see if a piece of equipment has a lender lien on it before buying anything.
 
"People SUCK" could also be an appropriate title for this thread!
