Buying a home out of state to get away from CA taxes

Just thinking of moving my primary residence to Nevada or somewhere else to avoid CA taxes, is it easy?

Can multiple people become partners and spread the cost out, for example 4 people buy into a home in another state, and we all move our primary residence to this house, is this possible? I work remote and so does my wife, the company has no idea where I am. At this point, I would put $100k into something to avoid State taxes and possibly the new Gas mileage tax. 4 peeps with $100k by a $400k house??? Heck, I am paying $20k a year in State income tax, and then add car registrations and such, it would pay off fast.

You would have to let your company know you changed primary residence to Nevada otherwise your paycheck will still be taking out CA state taxes. Also I would check with a CPA or tax expert to see if you are still subject to CA taxes as a non-resident - meaning if you do business in CA you could be subject to non-resident taxes.

It's a done deal....just same ole... "it's just a study" BS until they impose it. Gonna F a LOT of people...but there is no other way to pay for services for illegals without that and raising taxes in general.
The mileage tax is not a done deal. They really have not voted on it and really only talking about doing a study on it. If they were to do the mileage tax, the current CA gas tax would be gone and replaced with the mileage tax.

The state legislature is trying to figure out a way to "f" all the electric car owners who no longer pay at the pump.

Have you not been in CA long??? If it comes up for a "Study", it is a Done Deal.....they are just "easing" people into it, so there is no pushback. CA is a ONE party state...they will do as THEY please and we will take it, or move out.

My entire life. They have not approved it and Newsome currently says he will not sign it.

A person or group can buy a house with some property for way cheaper than 400k in Nevada or Arizona could then store river or desert toys and rent out place to care taker-security
Put all assets In trust then you rent California house from trust or some form of that, you will need an attorney to get it right
Get phone contact out of state phone stays at out of state house plugged in has 2 numbers and one forwards calls to you in California and that phone is owned by a trust or company out of another state.
The car you drive is registered out of state and you rent or lease it from your own company or trust and you carry rental documents in car.
I did this when I had a 2 stroke KTM 300 with street plates in California registered in Arizona and I carried rental documents and my California drivers license never had a problem but my documents looked professional
Avoiding tax is possible but comes at a cost you have to figure out if you will actually save anything.
And this is very important once you do it you can’t brag about it on social media
You can tell us on GD because you none of us work for the state

They WILL write and pass a bill and Newsome KNOWS he won't sign it, because he will be out of office before the actual bill comes for a vote. Don't fall for the Democrat Bullshit. This is what they are GOING to do.....CA is a lost cause. Born and raised, can't wait to leave.

The gas tax at the pump aint going nowhere FACT
The legislature is trying to figure out a way to "f" all of the -------- car owners who pay at the pump or plug
You really believe anything that Newsome says ?

The research I have done all points to the mileage/usage tax being a replacement for the state gas tax. Whether it is true or not remains to be seen. The mileage/usage tax is going to cost drivers a lot more than paying at the pump.

As per the gas tax, I have lots of questions:

People from other states no longer help fund our roads?
What if I spend a lot of time in another state driving (or if you off road), do I get a credit?
How will they monitor?

People from other states no longer help fund our roads?---YES THEY WILL NOT REPEAL THE PER GALLON TAX
What if I spend a lot of time in another state driving (or if you off road), do I get a credit?--SUCKS FOR YOU, IT WILL BE TOTAL MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE.
How will they monitor?--YEARLY "SAFETY INSPECTIONS"....OTHERWISE KNOWN AS SMOG CHECKS...NOW DONE YEARLY INSTEAD OF BIANUALLY.

CA IS A SHIT SHOW RUN BY LEFTIST IDIOTS.

Seems to me that the focus should be on how the current tax revenue is being spent rather than what new taxes are coming
Here's a novel idea, no new taxes until there is a complete and honest accounting for where the current tax funds are being spent! (I know pigs don't have wings yet)
Oregon is following close behind CA policy wise. Our last two Governors were ex CA politicians along with a few of our Congressional delegation. We actually are ahead of CA on studying and testing a mileage tax. I haven't heard anything since the testing began which means maybe the revenue isn't what they thought it would be. We are now facing our third gas tax increase in a relatively sort time.

CA at one time said ANYONE who Earns a pension while working inside CA would be required to pay taxes on that Pension even if they moved out of state....the courts have slapped them down a number of times, but they still keep sending the letters.
The courts have slapped Newscum down twice for this. I have been following it for a while. As a government employee who plans to leave California in two years when I retire, this would suck. Each time they have been shot down, they make some tweaks to the bill and push it again. So far, the thing that is preventing it from passing is some Federal Code that says you cannot be taxed twice. I know, I know, this opens a can of worms but I think they mean you cannot pay state income tax twice if you are living in another state and paying it. What does this mean if you live where they do not tax income? I dunno? Anyway, talking to a tax lawyer, if it did pass it likely would have an effective date, not a retroactive date, so if it passes, retire before the effective date. However, keep in mind, both time they tried to get it passed before, they were very secretive about it, they did not make much effort to let anyone know about it. So keep paying attention. Just my .02

@Cookie

I have a team of travelling gypsies that work for me going all over the country and the US for installations. They live out of hotels (ideally) 99% of the year. All of them live in FL, amusingly. At least that's what they told me their address is, LOL. I have no way of confirming this, and it's entirely up to them to notify me of any changes. One works for me part time and seems to be spending a lot of time not in FL, but I don't ask questions. NMFP.

Things to keep in mind:

1. If you want to register everything in AZ/NV/wherever, get a DL there so everything matches if you get pulled over. You are on vacation.
2. ALPRs are a thing and they will likely eventually get you. It won't be cheap. Best thing would be to keep the above AZ/NV/BFE DL and register a primary (and hopefully cheap) vehicle here. CA plate with AZ DL is generally fine to my knowledge. You only use this car here, but primarily live in AZ if asked.
3. This isn't at all legal, LOL.

They are doing that to government retirees. You cannot collect retirement benefits if you leave CA.

There is a FB dedicated to CA transplants moving to TN and the stories from people getting fucked after the fact is unbelievable. It’s a crime. It’s extortion.

Within 18 months of leaving CA, They tried to get me for vehicle registrations and capital gains on $495k. I wrote back and told them to choke on a bag of dicks. I may have a copy of that email. I’ll look. They also sent me letters related to investment gains. I sent them the same message. Five years later, nothing came of it. When I inherit my parents properties, I’m doing some creative things to mitigate having to fork over any money to CA.

I’m not sure if ya’ll have read but with healthcare enrollments and redeterminations and other related federal funding enforcement, Alameda Health alone is going to lose nearly 50% of its covered lives. Now, think of all the other plans and health systems that relied on that funding! Thousands of jobs will evaporate soon…administrative and professional caregivers- CNAs, LVNs, RNs, mid-level practitioners, MDs, etc.
Caregivers are the ones that make revenue. Every time I go to a hospital, there are a dozen people standing around, none of which are doctors. If anyone's getting cut, it's there. The bureaucracy of a hospital is obnoxious, and as someone who is insured under a PPO, extremely maddening.

Also will now include ALL vehicle's so no pre 1974 "bianual smog check" exemption
If it has a Calif plate on it, you will take it in EVERY year for the "saftey check" and they grab the milage (and pay for the saftey/smog check)
Can anybody show where it states in that assembly bill that they WILL remove ALL of the existing gas taxes that we now pay with this new money grab ?
And not "it should replace"

I'm sure they'll offer a GPS device (with automatically issued speeding/parking tickets) as an alternative, LOL.

They also DGAF if it's stupid. Just look at the MDT/HDT quarterly diesel inspections for RVs. I have buddies moving shit out of state because the only other alternative is to remove it from their desert property once a quarter for an inspection in the name of air pollution. The vehicle would otherwise spend the entire winter in one spot.
