Las Vegas is currently facing a significant decline in tourism and economic activity due to a "perfect storm" of high costs, economic uncertainties for consumers, and a reduction in international visitors, particularly from Canada. Visitors are finding the city too expensive with rising resort fees, parking, food, and entertainment costs, leading to less spending and fewer visitors. This downturn is causing reduced hours and shifts for casino workers and has led to concerns among local businesses and officials.

We go there pretty often due to it being the closest international airport to us. If we have an early flight we stay there but the resort fees, meals, drinks and taxes are ridiculous.

I used to get dragged to Vegas a couple of times a year by my alcoholic Ex, just so she could get her drink on with an audience and feel special. Complete waste of money and time, in my mind and haven't been back since 2013.

Drove right past the shithole on the way to Zion last year with my Baby's Momma and we had no inclination on stopping, for anything. A huge win in my eyes.

I'm in Vegas quite often, my mom retired there in 2020.
I usually stay at Planet Hollywood (free rooms or heavy discount on rooms) I like the vibe there.
Talking with a Blackjack dealer just last week and she said she quit working weekends because it was so bad and only works during the week which is a reflection of the locals go during the week, tourist or lack thereof on the weekends. She said it's really bad and nobody knows what to do to fix it.....I said the cost to go to Vegas is crazy high....reduce the cost and folks will return....problem is most if not all of Vegas is all corporate now.....we all know how that goes!!

Nashville seems to be the new destination spot that Vegas is losing customers to.
Wife and I went to Nashville earlier this summer. It was awesome.

We also went to Vegas this summer, but only because we had a free stay at the Trump tower. We mostly just hung out on Freemont St, and it was pretty packed.

I haven't been to Vegas for recreation in probably 15 years. Been a few times for work, but didn't really go out.

I'm curious how bad the drop in Vegas is really? I've watched a number of the YouTube videos and the numbers they throw out don't sound like they would even be noticeable. The numbers they indicate are reductions in single digit %'s. Is a 5% occupancy rate downturn even noticeable?

I do agree that it's gotten ridiculous with resort fees, parking, etc. Lost time we there my wife paid $100 to reserve pool-side lounge chairs. I was like, WTF! We go 1-2 times a year. I also go out of my way to avoid the lame casinos that only pay 6-5 on blackjack now instead of the 3-2 they should be paying.

We still enjoy Vegas, certain resorts that are nice get aways, not big on the gambling.

Concerts, etc or anything that makes the trip worth it.

I attend a conference there every year for Industrial Security. I fucking hate it.

It’s not really surprising. Like others mentioned the rates, food & drinks costs & resort fees no longer make the drive or flight worth the destination. Then add in all these local tribal casinos across the country, which seem to be growing and getting more of that Vegas customer. These local casinos offer much of what the Vegas hotel/casinos offered, without the drive or flights.

Every one of them has been building out hotels and making it a resort type thing.

From what I have seen on YouTube, people are saying 10 - 20% drop, depending on the location and YouTuber commenting. Most of the talk was around the 10% number, which I had the same question as you... "is that this noticeable/impactful?".

... And then I drive by Pechenga on the way to a friends house in Temecula... full parking lots... 🤑.

Go to Vegas once a year for a race for my kid at Southpoint. They don't nickel and dime you for everything like the hotels on the strip. Lots of restaurants as the hotel and really no need to leave unless you really want to go down to the strip.

Vegas is too expensive for rooms that are no better than you get at a Hampton Inn. Then they hit you with crazy parking fees and expensive food.

Pechenga is a nice resort and they have a nice RV park if you want to go that route.
