Hegseth Speech

I think it's very funny to imagine admirals and generals (and their respective egos) getting an email telling them they’ve been summoned to Washington by a former National Guardsman and weekend Fox News contributor for a lecture on the "Warrior Mindset".

Some of the greatest Secretaries of Defense that we've had had less military experience than him. He's been in the suck. What else do you want?

The were definitely annoyed. But… Former Major with 2 Bronze Stars, served active duty with the 101st, and has degrees from Harvard and Princeton.

Not like he was Pauly Shore…

I think its funny that it takes a former National Guardsman and weekend Fox News contributor to put an end to the BS we have been calling a military. Woke/DEI principles, AFG pullout, falling enrollment numbers, it has been a complete shit show. Finally someone has the balls to say enough is enough. And its coming from the guy in the back... who we all.. well most of us agree that its time to stop playing grab ass and get the standard back up.

Long overdue.

Hahaha. Tell us you don't have a clue without telling us you don't have a clue.

Meh, to me, Trump 2.0's cabinet is the absolute dearth of qualification / experience and it shows every day, especially at DOJ. At Defense (apparently now War), last time we had Tillerson and Perry but they at least had the the basic skills of managing large organizations. What is the largest number of staff Hegseth managed before taking over the largest bureaucracy in the country? I mean if you have to promise to stop drinking in order to be confirmed . . .

Meh, it could be @South Bay is laughing at a bunch of ring clackers being told what to do by someone they'll likely see as beneath them.

In any case, the admiralty (and yes Generals) there has been a major source of these problems. It was only a couple of years ago that White Fragility and How to be an Antiracist on their book list for leadership.

If he was a Nose Ring wearing Vocalist for a "Has Been", horrible sounding "Punk" Rock band with a partially filled show in a tiny ass West Hollywood crap venue...

SouthBay would comment that he's saying all the right things!

NM on the above.

I like what was said and did in the meeting. Some will be pissed. Most will like it.

He still has the Joint Chiefs to run their respective branches. He's not going to personally manage the entire DoD.

Pretty sure your "Heroes" are Heroin addicts and Overdose victims, no?

I don't know much about him, but I have few friends that are pretty high in the Navy and Marines, they love him. They talk about finally having a leader that doesn't fuck around, he is not a politician like most. At least that is their perspective.
That's what most of the O8+ club is now: politicians.

Having a son that just finished boot camp and tech school for the Air Force (technically Space Force but they don't have their own boot or tech school) things need to change. Absolute joke when it comes to PT requirements and level of difficulty of the 7 week boot camp. Everyone passes, numerous kids couldn't meet the minimum 20 sit ups in a minute, 40 push ups in 2 minutes and 15 minutes for 1.5 mile run. They have a strict no touching policy and only 2 days of rifle time on the range. These kids are coming out soft.

In the last couple months, Air Force has announced major reform to their boot camp requirements and their overall readiness for all airmen. Speaking for at least the Air Force, they need to change and sounds like the ball is rolling.

This DEI agenda has been infiltrating our military for a long time, possibly decades. The top brass have been implementing changes to reflect DEI. You can send a company wide email and hope everyone gets the message or you have a big company meeting where we clearly lay out a new direction and standards for our company. Pretty simple in my eyes. Regardless of who gives the message, the message was clear to all the top brass.

You know general grant was basically a logistics and requisitions lieutenant, who was dismissed prior to civil war right?

John basilone was just a regular private at the start of ww2

Chuck yeager was a dumb hick from west virginia that barely spoke passible english

So wtf is your point?

They all all excelled by performance not social standing
