Trick to removing bearings?

What is the trick to removing these bearing from the rear hubs (to hopefully save them as useable spares)? Heat the hub and blind bearing remover?IMG_3267.jpegIMG_3268.jpeg
 
Remove inner part of outer bearing. Place socket over inner sleeve that is between the two bearings. Hit socket with hammer. If inner bearing does not budge, apply heat to hub and hit socket like an unpaid farm hand.
 
After removing the snap ring on the back side… (I maaaaay have forgotten once)

I usually use a punch to shove the outer bearing out from the inside, pull the spacer, then drive the inner out with a large socket.

Don’t forget to pull the wheel/cotter pin off and re-torque after the first run.

I did see and remove the snap ring. Should have included that. If my hands aren’t to greasy I’ll take some better pictures when I do the other side.
What is the magic torque number for the big nut oh wise one?

I usually ugga dugga the shit out of it while spinning the rotor, then back off, then re-ugga dugga to pretty damned tight and put the pin in.

Supposedly it’s retorque to 50, but I’ve had them get loose from that with paddles/offroad abuse. So, lots of ugga dugga.
 
This is the VW Style setup,
Really sketchy setup, I like to bore out the hole and weld on the Cheaper Empi Mico Stub kit, then you have a unit bearing that last a long time and take all the pressure of the axle shaft

The VW style puts all the pressure on the Shaft, and the shaft holds the wheel together, This style is a ticking time bomb,

The Bearing are Cheap, I weld a small nut or plate on the inner hole then hammer or press the one out, then you can press out the other bearing the conventional way,
