Rebuilt the front of the RC 10gt tonight. I need to tear into the back, clean everything up, and rebuild the shocks. Parts for these are very hard to find

My first real RC Car also. This car taught me how to solder as a kid, that POS speed control would always give me problems until dad showed me how to fix it. Keeping these cars running as a kid taught us how to work on stuff, lots of great memories !Fun stuff!
I had the Tamiya Frog...thought that was cool till my cousin bought the RC10.
LOL

I saw that. That's the only reason I started to rebuild mine. The parts are super hard to get or very expensive. With the re-release parts should be available againTeam Associated is releasing a re-release of this classic. Motors and parts will be available.

Exactly! I had to build mine, no way my dad was paying someone to build it. Of course my best friends dad has his built for him and he could never fix anything, same is true for him today@SLIM I used to work at a Toy store throughout my high school years and when someone would buy and RC car, I offered to build it for them for $50. I would take the kit's home and build them charge them up and made sure they ran!
Lot of Dad's took me up on that so they didn't have to do it and their spoiled little brat had a toy to play with immediately on Christmas...that is if they bought in time for me to put it together!
LOL
I am probably going to get one once they are released. Our local tracks in Camarillo and Hotrods would be fun with a 1/10th scale gas truck.I saw that. That's the only reason I started to rebuild mine. The parts are super hard to get or very expensive. With the re-release parts should be available again
Just get some newer Reedy or Hobbywing electronics. My buddy builds a bunch of vintage r/c cars and he puts newer electronics in them.I won a Yokomo MX-4 w/painted body/wing in a waffle a couple days ago. Weird not having a million speedos/radios available to pair with it now. I've already started scouring ebay for period correct electronics.
Nah, not for the vintage cars for me; I always use era specific components. I wasn't posting on GD back when I had my vintage collection but it was pretty crazy. Was one of the hardest things to let go of when I sold the house.Just get some newer Reedy or Hobbywing electronics. My buddy builds a bunch of vintage r/c cars and he puts newer electronics in them.
Getting a couple toys together to play with out there. Not sure if we are going to start racing or not. Just going to play out there for now. We have the 4wd scte, nitro rc10gt, and I got some track tires and sway bars for my sledge.Yesterday's fun at The Dirt in Perris before the rain arrived. The Factory NSX race had a supercross inspired layout. Kiddo was racing with several of the top pros in the nation.
