Deckboat... what to buy??

Im a magic deck boat owner. Nothing wrong with magics except the year they where built. Most magics are comiing up on the 20 year mark. All major brand deck boats are going to do the same thing, large open space, plenty of storage and easy walk off.. These newer deck boats look amazing but have some draw backs.  Nordic for instance in my opinion have large/tall sponsons,  so when beached walking on and off can be difficult due to the front of the boat is high off the the ground where you might need a step for simple on and off.  These newer deck boat are also heavy. So needing big power is ideal to get them to plane quickly or just cruise at a nice speed. I think thats why alot of newly built deck boats with small power are for sale after they are built. New owner isnt happy with being under powered. Your in the dirvers seat with plenty of time to find and test out boats if buying used. The market is starting to get flooded with used boats.

After this summer, made me realize it may be time to sell the wakeboard boat and get a nice deckboat. Yup old age is settling in.

Used market is flooded with Magics and others. I was almost thinking of ordering a new boat. Eliminator is a nice boat , conquest looks nice. Feel free to enlighten me. ..

@RiverDave might have some good input on this.

Once you go toon, you will not go back to a Fiberglass hull.

There are a lot of nice deck boats out there new and used. I have owned the Howard 288 Sportdeck and a Magic. I work for Eliminator Boats and have now been in a lot of our Fundeck’s. Each has great attributes. Personally for comfort and function I prefer the Eliminator…..

Check out these Lí'll fellers for some nice fishing if that is your thing too:

LOL

Guess it all depends on budget and what style/look you like. I personally don't like the tall freeboard boats that are made today.
Here are a few I do like;

Shockwave

I like the shockwave and the hallet boats. Just have to talk myself into spending the money and storing it.

Dood, I may know a guy

I went down this path a few years ago. I was going to buy a deck boat, I was all ready to drop the cash and then Walt told me..."Call Eliminator and ask them about that boat". I did, gave them the hull number, they pulled up the file and I found out the boat had been salvaged and put back together (common practice when a boat gets stolen). I ended up just buying a new boat and never looked back. Also...look at the boat title AND the trailer title. These are separate and can be a major pain if they are split or not up to date.

I'd highly recommend calling a manufacturer and asking them about the hull number and build. I'd also take the boat to YOUR shop of choice and have them flash the ECU to get real hours and info. A rebuild on a performance motor or lower can run you another $25K right off the bat.

I'll add another vote for a quality toon. We love ours and Bennington really stands behind their product. Their 10 year bow to stern is legit!
