Bend the spring a little. They make a tool specifically for that but if you can access it a screwdriver works too.

We get ours from Drag Race Solutions, they have a bunch on their website.

I use the allen head Dzus  personally - less chance of ruining a nice paint or wrap job, but if you use standard slot  a  good  Dzus tool is a must IMO - its safer and easier - not the crappy  versions - metal is tool soft  - they are nor created  equally - this is the best  $15 you can spend

(the summit copy is $2 cheaper and definitely not nearly as good By The Way)

Earls (holley) make a version for Allen head as well

Thanks for the suggestions! Replacing the fasteners with steel hex head ones is on the list now as well as the dedicated tool.
