So..

I've worked with a company to build a somewhat modular harness to run the second gen Honda J series. It will run early and later ones. Even into 3rd gen. Cable or DBW TB. It's set up to run on a FuelTech 550. Has an integrated fuse box for the engine, etc.

I need a guinea pig though. It won't be free, but it will be cheaper than you'll get elsewhere....

Anyone in?

ps. the tile is going away next week...LOL

I'm kinda surprised this has had basically zero traction.

Nearly every Honda thread is someone asking about 2nd gen, hence me doing this,

What’s a second Gen J series? I have a J35 that is going to need a harness and computer.

I'm interested but ignorant on the different engines and their benefits over the J35...What's the main driver to get this new setup? No aftermarket ECU's available for them today, or?

That harness looks great. I’m sure it’s timing. Wait another month or 2

The second Gen engines have more power. These are the ones with a single exhaust port versus the first gen with individuals. The first gen can run on the factory ECU.

Kinda figured summer is when people are switching there setups or refreshing.

Are engine mounts the same between the two generations? I.E - say someone wanted to go from a J35 to a ? - What's all involved, what are the motors actually called- J45, J? (what years / what car(s) did they come in, etc.

In other words, help educate us on what it would take to go from a J35 to something better / newer.

I don't know about the mounts. They're a few different displacements like the first Gen. The Wki page on the Js is pretty good.

Probably the most important part: they're newer and more common in JYs now. Newest J35A4 is over 20 years old now and shit that comes from the JY is super crusty and worn out.

It's decent, but doesn't specify generation there really. J35Y/Z, or J35A6+/J37A1-5?

Honestly, I was getting out of the regular car biz as these were being introduced. So, I'm not super familiar with them or the specifics. Somewhere like the Acurazine forum would be would be a better source.

From my searching it looks like the newer stuff has different bellhousing pattern as well

Would be nice to have a write up about what it would take to go from a J35 A3 / A4 to a more modern engine - and or if starting new...i.e, will my current clutch work, do the other Honda engines bolt up to a 2d? Will my current j35a4 adapter plate work, etc. In other words, can i even put one of these engines in a sand car? The wiring of the newer engine is one piece to the puzzle.
