Kennedy was shot by a mentally disturbed, twice court-martialed Marine who defected to the Soviet Union who then found out it was not to his liking. Regan was shot by a mentally disturbed man who was trying to impress Jodie Foster who also had stalked Jimmy Carter when he was President. Trump was shot at by a mentally disturbed registered Republican and the only reason he is still with us is because the would be assassin was a bad shot. With the exception of Lincoln, who was shot by a Confederate sympathizer (more or less what we could call a conservative Southernor today), I'm not sure standing up to Democrats had much to do with any of it.

Uh.. Where did you get the information that the guy that shot trump was a republican? Because I've heard the opposite.

It was widely reported at the time that according to Pennsylvania state voting records, he registered as a Republican in 2021. Also said he gave $15 to the Progressive Turnout Project so there is that as well.
