Thanks for the feedback, some great info.

I am looking to build a new long block for my car and as @Dockmaster said build the engine with the builder of a new car, as I am considering to build a new car to replace the G52. Reliable is very important to me. And I do know it is hard to have in a race car.

Also depends what you want to build. Are you doing a blower motor or TT ? How crazy on HP are you wanting?

Well.... I'm sure hoping Mike figures out why my engine keeps losing oil pressure. I brought my engine to him last year and so far, I have had a day and a half of a running car. Mind you, he is trying to get it figured out without charging me to rebuild it for the third/forth time, but I basically haven't had an engine since I dropped mine off with him over a year ago.

My Alper 416 rips, the 408 he build me ripped too. I had the 416 tuned locally and it wasn't great, I took it to Lance and all the difference in the world. Beyond the builder its as important to have the right guy tuning it. These engines are running hard, often in sandy and hot conditions, full throttle bursts constantly, some on unreliable pump gas. I have heard a few stories of guys getting pump gas that had water or 91 that was 87. The more HP the more you need to control fuel quality.

I agree with Chris the most important thing is how is that builder going to deal with an issue after your check clears.

I am not sure, I am waiting to drive my buddies new TT redline motor to see which way I want to go. But still want to build a long block to have for a backup for my GTU.

I would take the list of builders and find out who is in the dunes and who isn't. Who can you call on a Saturday and who can't you call.

I have a few buddies running crazy HP, and the ones doing it with the least amount of issues all went to redline.

I have a had a super reliable cammed LS1 from CBM. A super reliable TT LS2 from turnkey etc.

another friend recently had a motor done by Hustler and he seems very happy. Like mentioned above... tuning is very important. If I were building a brand new TT motor and budget was not an issue I would go to redline... just based off my inner circles experience. I had redline tune my TT LS2, and the thing always ran great tune was dialed.

Aaron and Toy Factory keep sending all their cars to Redline for motors. 2 of the biggest HP cars out at Glamis. They blow up Trannys but havent heard of engine failures.

I had a bada$$ LS1 built from Danzio in the past, and another LS1 built from CBM, both N/A and both ran awesome.

It seems that when your stepping into the high dollar TT motors Redline is the go to. If I was spending that much on a motor, I would want the builder that is out in Glamis testing/tuning with Funco on the new builds. This way, you know your getting what you pay for.

Tony, known you for a long time, camped and done lots of business together. When the original engine in your Funco failed, quickly, you took it to Redline and they got it sorted out. It's been a great cars for the last few seasons. I can tell you good and bad stories about all of the builders in this thread except for three I've never heard of.

Why are you looking for a different builder? Or is this a thread just to post a thread?

Moruzzi Race Motors is who’s building my motor. Robert is straight up and a lot of people I know have had great experiences.

Seems like a engine builder would be the only option. Yes anyone can build a engine but why not just take it to some one that specializes in building motors. Even better would be to take it to engine builder that specializes in off road engines. Out of all the engine builders you listed Redline, Danzio, CBM,C&G Turnkey in that order.
