IDK How You People Do It

Born and raised here. Lived in the mountains near Arrowhead my whole childhood. It was an amazing place as a kid with good weather year round and super safe. Live in Riverside now. I would love to sprout wings and move somewhere else just for a change of scenery. I am encouraging my kids (we have 4 of them) to move east to a conservative state. Our area is pretty conservative and like minded. It really is a pretty amazing state. We have it all. In my line of work (public safety) this state is by far the best. I don’t have to drive the freeways every day to get to work, I NEVER go to LA, stay out of the areas riddled with homeless, and have a great community of people around us. We go to a great church and have the kids in private school so no dealing with the BS trans junk or crazy lib teachers. We will end up settling in retirement as close as possible to where the kids settle so who knows. But in the meantime we have learned to accept our current situation and make the best of it. We have it far better than a lot of other places. Sacramento just sucks and is run by idiots but all we can do is keep voting conservative, and pray for a turn around. This last election was the most red we have ever seen on a map of our state. There is hope! BIANCO 2026!
If you can remain in a bubble / your own environment like you describe and look at all the Taxes and Overcharging as a Weather Tax......It is a lot easier to deal with......I travel for work,....my wife and kids are in the bubble so their opinion is much different than mine.......

If I had the $$$ and could be more set in one place...I would deal with it better.

I love California....I look at it as the white Lambo that Leonardo Dicapro is driving in that scene of the Wolf of Walstreet.........EXCEPT the car represents a BEAUTIFUL California and Newscum is the driver bouncing it off telephone poles and crashing into anything in sight destroying it as it goes down the road.

a guy at work went to cali for a funeral. he's at a stop light and dude walks up with a 5 gallon bucket, so he thought the guy was asking for money.
NOPE, dude drops his pants and chits in the bucket, right next to his car in the median. Charlie said I damn near passed out! I think he was in the sacremento area lol.

The Homless Vagrents have given a whole new meaning to the "Golden" part of the Golden State!....You can smell the "Golden" stench in the streets everywhere !!!

Its great that you are still happy with the Golden State after many of the top tax bracket and middle class are leaving for a new start in places without all the homeless corruption and corrupt Sacramento politics. I truely believe the people remaining are going to be either low income and Very High income absorbing the taxes to pay for all the waste...... Finding that balance you have acheived is a tolerance I struggle with.

Living well is the best revenge. I wish I could accept it that good........For me,.....if my wife agrees.....I want Idaho Falls ,,,,,,Ill miss a lot of stuff but I think so many things about California are getting harder to deal with depending of the doses you are exposed to on a daily basi

Haha….. perfect way to describe it. We have all the potential to be the greatest state, but Newscum is doing his best to ruin it. He ruined San Fran, Ca, and now going to try and ruin the country. Real winner he is….

Ca is a shithole and getting worse. The Democrats own this entirely on their own. That guy in the tesla that was beating up drivers.....got 5 yrs out in 1 only to do it again in Hawaii. YOU are not safe in CA. If the criminals don't get you the system will. Hit me up next year when the gas hits $7 or $8 a gallon....and the economy evaporates and the Millions of trash people in this state go crazy. I fear I've missed the boat on selling and moving....I will likely have to live in a shitbox house just to get out of this state.

The tax base is fleeing this state in droves....it won't be long until the scale just falls over and anybody with income will be paying most of it to CA to keep the ponzy scheme going.

Living in Cali is like cooking lobster. They just turn up the heat slowly and by the time we notice, it’s too late.

People visit the state and then complain about how much they don't like it and don't understand how people can live here. It's easy to live here, and gets better as all the cry babies leave.
So were any of my observations inaccurate? Road conditions, traffic and the like? Sorry if I touched a nerve. Glad you like it here.

I think I’m going to drive back thru Nevada. It adds about 2 hours but hopefully no traffic. Even if it is 2 hours longer it has to better than I-5 and worth the extra time. And if Glamis is a bust due to wind or whatever maybe I’ll leave early and detour to Sand Mountain to check it out and buzz around a bit.
You would be better served going to Dumont than Sand Mountain. Leave there through Pahrump and take 95 North.

Is that based on quality of dunes? Sand Mountain is closer to my route I believe and have a friend that will meet me there so I’m not duning alone

Dumont is bigger and better dunes IMO. I also believe it's less out of your way than Sand Mtn.

Traffic sucks, no argument. Homeless, druggies....that's not just a problem in CA, they just stand out here more vs looking like the gen pop elsewhere.

AZ folks, temps hit a little early? June, July August isn't even here yet LOL

Sounds more like So-Cal, North of Bakersfield they don’t use buckets.

Retired state workers will be the new “rich” tasked with maintaining the Ponzi scheme, State Employee Union Bosses will do just fine retiring in Northern Idaho though.

How do you folks live in California? I just drove from Oregon to Palm Springs over last two days:
1. The roads are in such terrible condition I’m surprised I have any teeth left
2. The driver’s here are hands-down the worst in the country.
3. Coalinga is the worst thing I’ve ever smelled.
3. I spent two hours in grid lock traffic on the 210 near Pasadena on a Saturday afternoon.

I don’t care how good the weather is. I’ll take some rain and long guilt free showers over this mess every day and twice on Sunday. Seriously how do you deal with this every day if you live here?

Why did you go that way?

You should have went down the 5, to the 138... headed into Palmdale. Hit the 14 south ... back on the 138 (Pearblossom Highway) and then to the 15. Would have dropped you very close to Rialto without any of that 210 BS. This is what I do when coming back from Yosemite during the middle of the day. You don't see 3/4 of the shit you complain about... but do get to experience Palmdale.

Second... you're in one of the most populated areas of So Cal at that point... roads are going to be fucked. Same as Dallas, Same as Houston, same as Phoenix, Denver and even SLC. Population densities create this issue, it's not just So Cal.

To answer the other question... there are a lot of good jobs here (San Diego) and it's really not as bad as you're outlining.

Six figure salary, 5 minutes from work with zero mortgage or rent payment and property taxes under 2k annually... hard to leave. Why would I?

If you detour and weather permits I would go to dumont, maybe one of the vegas guys can meet you out there. Glamis should be awesome especially with a new car. Cali Highways suck and so does the traffic.

It will be in the 80s this week.

You want a drive that will make you pull your hair out, just head east on the 10 from Palm Springs to Phoenix.

There are states with way worse drivers than in CA. Texas and Alabama have some horrible drivers. Parts of AZ has some special drivers and Atlanta area of Georgia is good times.

The I-5 is the main roadway for truckers and is heavily used. Some parts are fine and other parts are beat up bad. Oh and heading east on the 210 can be a traffic nightmare.
