Alright fellers, short and skinny is it appears these high-functioning individuals stole the trailer out of the fenced yard with a VERY beefy chain/fence next to my buddy's shop. Cameras picked it all up and LA Sheriff has that info. Trailer has a fold-away hitch:
Assuming the braniacs tossed the stubby part onto the ball on their truck and drove off. They got it to another parking lot and appeared to try to figure this thing out, but in their haste to get it out of there, they bent the hitch and couldn't get the tongue to fold back in, so they just left it. The only thing they succeeded in was stealing 2 of the 12 PRP tie down straps that were in the tongue box. Not sure why they only ransacked those 2, but whatever.
All in all, a sorta win as far as these things go.
