How many targets would you shoot each day?
Do you hike to the "firing line", range the target, then every stands in one line & shoots @ the same time??? or something like that??
what is it like traveling with your gear? do the airlines give you grief over the size of your gear box?
are there matches here in San Diego?

It was a blast! Each course has 25 targets and we would do one trail a day. We signed up for just 3 days. We would take a ski lift up and then walk down the MTN. Each trail averaged around 4 miles.
Hi it was a blast! We would have knock times and each group would space out enough to not be on top of each other. But we would each range in each shot from the designated cone for the shot and shot one at a time. Some shots we would send them all at once. If anyone had a bow that couldn't take the long shots we would let them walk closer and take shots where they wanted. There was not prize for how you shot. It was all just for bragging rights in a group.
As for traveling Rebecca and I took the 4runner and picked up a few friends in Vegas. For traveling with a Bow you just need to check the case in like normal. You just can't have them as a carry on. I have never had an issue and none of the other guys have either. Most guys I know will pack them with clothes in the bow case itself so nothing will bang around. We also take markers and mark any moving part to see if anything moved during travel. (Its just good to do that anyway)
Yes there is a range in alpine that has 3d shoots all the time. Its a smaller course and sometimes there are some questionably safe shots. Below is what I grabbed from the Bow and Arrow shops website.

San Diego Archers is a very active club that sponsors two shoots each month and three major tournaments each year.
- Rube Powell Range: Hosts 3D, Animal, and Hunter Rounds.
- Morley Field Range: Features marked targets from 10 to 100 yards in 10-yard increments and hosts league shoots and 900 Rounds.
Bear State Archers
Located in the beautiful mountains of San Diego County overlooking Lake Henshaw, Bear State Archers hosts several Sunday 3D fun shoots, along with the annual
“Bear-Ass Shoot.”
Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club
The LGRGC Archery Range is located just east of Alpine in San Diego County. Its 38-acre range features 28 3D targets arranged to simulate realistic hunting scenarios.
Targets are changed monthly and remain set up 24/7 for LGRGC members. The cost is $5 to shoot. The range is open to the public on tournament days, typically held on the second Sunday of each month, except when that date falls on a holiday.
Riverside Archers
Riverside Archers is one of California’s oldest archery clubs. Its range is nestled among the valleys and canyons of northwestern Riverside County.
The NFAA walking range features varied terrain, including shots over water and challenging uphill and downhill targets.
Oranco Bowmen
Located in Chino, California, Oranco Bowmen hosts six major shoots each year. The range is open to the public on most Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for $20 per archer.
The range may be closed during major shoots, work parties, and holidays.
Southwest Bowhunters
Southwest Bowhunters operates an archery target range just north of Yuma, Arizona, within the Adair Park Shooting Complex. The range is open to the public.
Sunday fun shoots cost $5 for members and $8 for nonmembers. The club also hosts five major shoots each year, including the third leg of the Arizona 3D Championship Series.
