It's Saturday July 11th 2026.. What is everyone doing this weekend

GLAMIS WEATHER
Need to work on wife's 70.
Got an olive tree to thin out and lower.
Huge tritip set out. Just gotta decide how im gonna cook it.

Gonna have lunch with an old navy buddy, then a few folks from work are coming over for a BBQ this evening.

I was supposed to shoot a match tomorrow but i backed out. I offered to help a neighbor replace the starter in his VeeWee.

Taking my bow to check the ballistics to dial in my range finder. We are prepping for Total Archery Challenge (TAC) in Brian Head Utah next weekend. I have been doing it with buddies for years now. Should be a damn good time. Its always fun sending an arrow 100 yards into a 10 foot tall Sasquatch...lol

I need to make it to a TAC event one of these days…looks like a blast! Just finished broadhead tuning my bow out to 70 yards this morning for a hunt next month.

When your done put a post in the "shooting competitions" thread. It would be cool to learn about other shooting sports.

Nice! Hopefully you bag the big one! Where are you going?

Will do, I didn't know there was a thread for that. The losers in this competition just buy beer....lol.

Wrapped up work in Maryland and hit up DC for the weekend before heading to Virginia for a week of work. Been coming back here a couple times a year for 20 years and never got to do much of anything, always work work work.

Friday night parade at 8th & I Marine Barracks with The President’s Own Band, The Commandant’s Own Band, and Silent Drill Team. Right before the start ran into friends of ours (retired chief warrant officer) that left SoCal for Arkansas 8 years ago… crazy but seems like we always run into someone on travel.

Saturday was a ball buster of a day. It doesn’t help that it was difficult to get around with half the mall fenced off as they clean up the fair. Started with a Capital tour, Library of Congress …even got our library cards and went inside the main room to read a bit - make it official. Down to the Smithsonian American History Museum to catch The Star Spangled Banner, Judy Garland’s ruby slippers, and a bunch of Americana. Hit the Washington monument, the closed off reflecting pool, dipped our feet in the fountain at the WWII Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial… probably missing a few things.

Today we’ll hit the Air Force and Marine war memorials, Arlington, and then start heading down to VA Beach. Hitting Quantico and the Marine Museum on the way down, looking forward to that.

Taken hundreds of pics but here’s a few.

This is a working weekend, trying to ramp up my Service Business, replaced a bathroom faucet and toilet filler and flapper valve then finished up a soft water install and prepped everything to install a DI Faucet in a quartz countertop that I have to drill out this week. Looks like I will be partnering with a home warrranty company to get even more work. Sunday is tractor maintenance day and get ready for the next dirt job.

Been working with @AVIwraps to design and execute new vinyl wraps for my marine business fleet of vans and trucks. Mike was kind enough to meet me half way this morning.
AVIWraps is in Beaumont and I'm in Costa Mesa.
Met in Corona and gave him Van #1 to start. Plans to exchange a van each week till they and a few trucks are done.

I was introduced to Mike thru @HozayKwarvo.
Mike is a veteran and has been involved in Glamis for years. His family enjoys going to Glamis and their company does a lot of promotional products as well and vehicle wraps on sandcars, sxs, work vehicles etc.
They have supported Glamis Veterans and the community for a few years now and that was enough for me to choose them for this job.

Supporting and collaborating with those that support you is what it's all about.

Photos to come and follow them on IG when you get a chance.

Another whirlwind day of memorials and museums and finally made it to Virginia Beach. Highlight this weekend is the flags. Yesterday we got to see the actual Star Spangled Banner that flew over Fort McHenry and inspired Francis Scott Key to pen what became the National Anthem (thanks to @John@Outfront for the recommendation (no pics allowed in there). Today was swinging by the Marine Corps War Memorial on the way out of town and then the National Marine Corps Museum in Quantico… the actual flag that was raised over Iwo Jima in the iconic picture is housed there. - the docent said the Smithsonian is after that one too but the Marine Museum keeps telling them to pound sand 😂

Yesterday was a fun day trying to get the engine out of buggy. Last race we had a clutch release issue, clutch package was all new and not a straight forward install. The engine has been in and out of car many many times, putting it in was a real fight, getting it out was harder, apparently the pilot bearing size was too tight after pressing it in the crank. It got stuck on input shaft and could not get past the clutch discs with bearing installed. We didn’t not know the issue exactly but a 2 hr job took 4 hrs. Now it’s time to double check everything. We have already checked most everything, needing a different release bearing to start, after that we have to probably make a new release bearing spacer as we currently have too much air gap to start with.
