Moving Sand at Gordons

Horrible photo - but I was driving from Yuma to El Centro and noticed these guys moving a ton of sand along the canal just past test hill///gnarly looking in person. It looks like they made the hill above the canal (where the excavator is) - a lot taller, and the 2 dozer dudes made a large, long slow slopping mountain. Must be to keep sand out of the canal.

I have always wanted to dune a D4 Dozer ! Looks like fun, I am also curious, what's going on ?

They are probably cutting trails and gonna flag them and expect us to not deviate from them. They just did this at plaster city (cut and marked trails). The “no leaving designated trail” days are coming

Was out there this past weekend. Was just awesome! They are dredging the canal and pushing the sand towards the dunes. The bottom of test is rough due to the windrows the dozers have pushed up. They are also cleaning out sand from the freeway underpasses. It will smooth out with the wind and as more people start showing up..
