I agree, but only 67% of the population has an iPhone. And in my experience, you need that phone pretty close by if you have the airtags inside a metal box trailer
You also have to rely on that the Bad Guys don't look at their phone and see a new item pinging off their Bluetooth and if they do all they have to do is shut off their Bluetooth and your Air Tag is now just a tiny coaster

That's pretty slick.
this simply makes sense. raise the jack, lock this on, its not going anywhere. you couldn't unbolt the jack and pull it up and out, the box would block it.

I think it's a good deterrent but if they managed to either get the ball connected or just pull with a chain they could just break the leg off the jack or bend it enough so that it's no longer a problem.

that's true. if they want it they will get it
 
They scan for tags and transmitters, park cars on the bottom floor of parking garages...no signal gets out. Pull the battery cables and wait....then tow it to their chop shop.
