Looking for a vehicle for my daughter. We're now in Montana and seems to be a lot of rebuilt titles on used cars. Any significant pro/cons of a rebuild title. Big difference from salvage?

Flood damaged rides?

Doubt it. I was thinking deer collision, maybe ice related accidents? Missoula is pretty mild for snow and ice but lotsa urban deer.
A lot of flood damage cars get "rebuilt" and then sold in markets far away from the area to conceal it.

take the vin and simply google it, you'd be amazed at the pics that are out there, if it went thru an auction, there's pics online most the time

If having full coverage is a requirement have your insurance agent run the vin as some insurance companies will not offer full coverage for some non regular Montana titles.

Is the price reflective of the brandished title? Should be 30%-40% less than an equal car with clean title.

Save yourself the headache, we're talking about your daughter here. Get a clean title with a carfax check for accidents, services, mileage time stamps etc.

Rebuilt just means it was headed for a junk yard and someone fixed it enough to be driveable. It could be nothing or be something that will make you pull your hair out. Good luck!

Oh and yes, I see it same as salvage. Branded title is all the same in my eyes.

@Dockmaster and @Chingon619 are spot on...Rebuilt/Salvage same thing to me. "Fixed" enough to sell it again, if CHEAP ride is what yore after, go for it if the price is right $.

Find your kid a better car otherwise.
