I've just ordered a Moro 7 full suspension mountain bike. The deal is so good I'm still trying to figure out what the catch is. While not a mainstream bicycle manufacturer here, Yamaha have been building bicycles for the Japanese market and came out with the first electric bicycle drivetrain in 1993. Giant also uses the current yamaha mid drive motors in their e bikes. The components are great with the same suspension as on my Trek Slash 8 enduro. I haven't taken delivery yet so buyer beware but the order was through yamahas own website and delivery will be at my local dealer. If you are in the market for an e mountain bike, city, or gravel bike, give yamaha some consideration.
Original link has been discontinued but sale is still going on as of Sat. morning. Here is a new link: https://yamaha-motor.com/promotions

Damn! I gotta check it out! I ride a Turbo Levo and it's been the best investment ever! Thanks for the heads up!

I'm just about to buy a pair. Any reason I shouldn't? with a free spare battery and a $2500 price it sounds like a sore dik deal. you just can't beat it.

It's a smoking deal! Too bad my wife thinks E-bikes are cheats. Ugh. I've bombed the hell out of mine for miles and miles! It's a lot of fun 5min from my front door. My guess is, sales didn't go the way they wanted and produced a crap ton. Nothing wrong with that. To be frank, i compared to my Specialized Turbo Levo and it's not that different. I paid a whopping $8k during covid. I'd jump on this deal all day long!

I don't know. I don't need another mountain bike but the deal was too good to pass up so I gambled. I have a confirmation email receipt from yamaha and my card has been charged. No other emails or messages yet. I keep waiting for the gotcha. I keep looking for it. I can't find it. I used my credit card in case it is a scam, I have some level of protection. I think everything is going to turn out just fine though. I can't find any mention of people on forums not getting their bike but also no mention of why the blowout price. These days, companies don't go from full price to 60% off ever. I found tons of forum members who paid full MSRP or close to it several years ago so it's not like this is the ol "claim 60% off a $6400 bike when it was only ever sold for $2500" deal.

I looked at the turbo levo and there is a model that looks to be similarly specc'd to the yamaha for $5500. The turbo levo alloy. Slightly bigger battery and slightly less travel. Both have rockshox 35mm forks and select shocks, 1X12 drive, good brakes, etc. The Specialized is twice the price which makes me feel this is a smokin deal.

Oh trust me, you're good! That's Yamaha's Direct website. Mine is the Comp Alloy with Fox34 fork and fox rear shock, same travel 160mm front and 150mm rear, great drive train etc. I would compare it to the Moro 07 with the exception of the 700wh battery. But hell, you're getting 2 batteries!!

Specialized did a similar deal about a year ago! I was pissed to see my bike for sale at $3500 when you couldn't touch a used one for less than $4k. So, not completely unheard of. I want to order one of these for my wife so bad so she sees what they are about.

That's a crazy deal on the Specialized for $3500. My mind justified the big sale because Yamaha doesn't have a big bicycle presence here in the USA but Specialized = apple pie. I bought a 2021 Trek Slash for full pop so I know what you mean about the sales price hurting.

Yamaha has announced exiting the US market for ebike sales so that's the reason behind these killer deals. Parts and service will still be available through the dealer network and the 5 year warranty will still be honored. Now, to the bad news if you had ordered a bike. The yamaha USA website response was as bad as I've ever seen a screw up. Maybe even the worst. The site showed many models available and accepted orders on those models for weeks after some models had been sold out. While the top model had shown as sold out, the 7, next highest, was what I ordered and received a confirmation email on. I received a notice of cancellation 2 weeks later. Just after I had left for a 3 week road trip. Many other buyers had the same experience. For whatever reason, Yamaha didn't or couldn't update the website. Certain models or sizes that showed as available had been sold out for weeks. I was able to place a second order for a lower model "5" that was shipped to my local dealer and they held it for me till Saturday when I scheduled to pick up. The second free battery was "till supplies last" and supplies didn't last that long. Still a great deal if support lasts through the dealers but there is quite a bit of ill will from some of us that had made the purchase and had it cancelled. My apologies to anyone here who had a similar experience as me.
