Will we see less crowds this season? October is when the season usually kicks off. Everything is more expensive. Gas is over $1.00 per gallon more than October 2021. groceries are higher. People have stopped going out to save as much money as they can.
I’m not talking the hardcore duners like yourselves but the casual weekend warriors who used to make 7-10 trips a year. Maybe the cut down to 3-5? What’s everyone think?

I think it will be ballz out high speed fun till the spare parts start to run out.

We will see a fast start tapering off after Thanksgiving and a build back up at the end of the year.  Sure that is what happens every year but this year I think it will be more pronounced, with shortages of spare parts and extra money.

Well On a Personal Note I work for a Very BIG Global Delivery Service and they sent an email out this week and started this STUPID program this week of NO drivers get any OT anymore. This hasnt been an issue for as long as I have worked there so in a Nut shell My season might be over before it starts.

We're making the Veterans trip for Mental Therapy. Expense Vs. Mindset? We missed Dune season last year and it's changed our world. Time for a sand fix! Da chEFF is going to spend some CASH for Clarity. We'll determine after this trip if it's financially worth going back. Maybe chEFF's SXS will be up for sale?! NOT! Peace

Damn near no amount of increase will keep me away from the dunes.  Been going every season since '99.  Like Cheff said its Mental Therapy, i bust my ass all year and suffer the Hell-izona summers just to get to the winter dune season.  Cant wait to see the group and hang with the boys.

My girls now love going to Glamis more than anything else.  That's my Golden Ticket to get out there.  About to dump $1200 fixing up one of the Banshee's so I can't let that go to waste....

We only do 3-4 trips during the "season" anyhow.  Likely won't change.

Are sandrail tires and wheels still hard to find? I think MWB has a good point about spare parts.

Yep, our company cut OT back to a minimum as well. Forecasts for next year are worse than this year....It's a big chit sammy and everyone's gonna get a bite, but the uber rich and the  Government.

With xmas coming? Is the company thinking the drivers are purposely working a tad slower in order to get OT? Or that the drivers will now work faster than normal? You guys are already fast. I see a lot of drivers jogging from the truck to the house.

They only give us 2 minutes to complete a delivery No matter how many packages or weight or etc etc.. The New system has many many flaws in there thinking for sure because My Dispatchers tell me there is plenty of work for me but Corporate says NO OT so they can't give it to me which makes NO SENSE.

NO SIR.. Wasn't asking for pity or Charity just stating how things are Personally to answer the question in this forum.

I suppose its all Just a Test of Faith

I'm not sure yet, latest data shows Americans still with Trillions of dollars in cash from all the COVID type give-a-ways, so it might be until next year that we see people run out of funds to lesson the crowds. Also, unemployment (reported, not sure if it's true) is still low. Fed wants to see unemployment go up before they stop hiking rates, which would then reduce incomes/crowds.

I can remember 4th of July, 2008 we went to Pismo and it was the most I'd ever paid for gas, $4.99 for 91 and for sure Pismo was EMPTY and I'm sure it was directly related to high gas prices and everyone going BK, etc.

I try to do 'off-weekends' so I don't usually see the big crowds. We like Sat-Tue/Wed before Thanksgiving and it's about 10% of the population you see on the following weekend.

This year I plan to store in Glamis and with Starlink, I'm looking forward to really really long stays, 7-10 day trips. I love those, you can even just chill in camp for a day wihtout riding and not feel like you're missing anything.

Foodrill took my CC yesterday, so boxed arms are on the way which should be the final 'upgrade' to complete my two Turbo S SXSs. I think after that they'll finally be as bulletproof as I can make them.

I know a lot of the weekend warriors out of Utah changed their habits this year...fuel is killing everyone..

I'm actually making more trips this season. My buddy UrClever found it's cheaper for us to make the initial trip down and leave our stuff in storage for the season. We are able to get round trip flights into San Diego for $78 and share a rental car for the drive to Glamis.

I look at the incremental costs.
If fuel is $1 a gallon more, will the extra $30, $40, $100 or $200 keep me away from Mother “G”?    Hell no!
