Wife went to drop the kids off at school like she always does and then goes to the gym. Turned the car off and walked the kids in to their classrooms. Came back out and "no key detected". Quickly figured out someone opened her car and took her purse in the 2-3 mins 100ft or so of drop off. She did not lock the car. What makes this situation not normal is she had her SS card in her wallet. Cant cry over spilt milk but I want to get ahead of this. The SS card and drivers license taken together I think adds a layer of possible identity theft. She had her health card, costco, AAA card and god knows what else in there.
I am going to freeze her credit. Cancel the debit, credit, and fuel card. Notify the bank etc.
I was going to sign up for one of the identity theft programs and whatever else is necessary. Figured I would post it here incase someone has some words of advice or has been down this road.
Of course they took the only keyfob to the car, so it's stuck at the school until the locksmith can come out later today and program a new one.
