What tire psi for the sand?

This is assuming you are running dirt tires and not paddles..

This subject comes up all the time in hard pack because too much you get flats, too little you get flats etc lol

But I’m curious what the members would suggest you would air down too?

I ran my SxS in Glamis with 10 psi in dirt tires with beadlocks. It went everywhere fine but not quite as fast and didn’t climb as well as with paddles.
 
8-10 since you have bead locks. No bead locks, nothing less that 10, 12 is better

Oh Jezuz Dave, that is the most newbie question ever asked, second is where do I fill up my water tanks on the way to Glamis.
 
Air pressure depends on vehicle weight more than anything. Drop it down to the point that it floats well on the sand without digging trenches, or the sidewalls start touching the sand. This could be 4 psi on Dad’s Mazzone, or 20psi on your 1 ton tow pig on stock tires.
 
depends on vehicle and tire i can run 8 pretty safely on my buggy. a 2500 pound SxS aint gonna like 6 psi like an old school vw that weighs 1000 pounds.IMO comes down to footprint.

example i gave above the SxS may be at 12psi and the lightweight rail may only take 7psi to put down the same footprint on the tire.As for tires some have stiffer sidewalls and some are softer which will flex more so best to adjust for your vehicle vs take what others run.

For me wheter its a truck or buggy i liked to run a little more than what is needed and my reason was this.If you get stuck you can stop asap dig it out let out some more air and get out of situation compared to running as low as you can getting stuck and now depending on a tow out and if riding solo well its a wait.

While I admit it’s a pretty basic question on the surface, this subject is up to some pretty intense debate amongst my friends for hardpack riding..

Figured it might be the same for sand.. lol.
 
What vehicle? Are we talking about going out in the dunes or pulling into camp? What tires? Too many variables to make a blanket statement here. In my Raptor to go out in the dunes, 13 psi with Method beadgrips with 37's. My F350 pulling into Gordon's with a 30' enclosed trailer, 20'ish on 37's. SXS out in the dunes, 8 with beadlocks. Hard pack SXS trail cruising, 8-10 with 33's or 35's on the pro r. SXS hardpack hauling azz, 15'ish. Funco gen 4 LS3, 12'ish front, 10 rear. Always a little MORE if the sand is wet. :ez:

I have bent a couple of front rims, at 10-PSI and now run 21-psi in the front, they are 12'' SandMaster STU, rear is a 35.5, if i want to wheelie more i run
8-10psi most of the time i am running 17psi, car weight is around 3900-lbs

For me personally speed el jefe rg currently running speed tires but that will change next season.
 
I have always ran paddles/Smoothies but got rid of them with the last RZR. This year I am going to run my Can-AM on 32" dirt tires with beadlocks at 7-8 psi and see how it does. I have never had any issues staying above 5 psi on heavy dirt tires.
