Moving from Mesa to Pocatello Idaho. With neighboring city is about 150,000 pop. (Growing fast) I run a small service business that I’m leaving (street sweeping, psi. Washing, junk removal). Long story short. I can run a business from start to end. Sales, administration, logistics, fleet mgmt.(including vehicle operations and diagnostic and repair (don’t want to though)).

Don’t really want to be involved in the same industry, so I’m trying to figure out what can I self start with low overhead (maybe psi. Washing, only 1/2 the year there…)that could grow into a small-medium size business (not greedy, personal time is important).

Of course I’m YouTube certified as well!!
Can learn fast and apply (teach) almost as quick.

What would you do??

Stick with what you know.

I'm sure a part time pressure washing gig would be pretty lucrative.

Maybe add a chemical routine like "soft wash". Areas like this that have high precipitation get organic growth (mold/mildew) on nearly all external surfaces, and most view it as ugly/dirty.

Due to the GREEN agenda, the food waste trash cans are just a giant growing vat of monkey butt diseases and smell. I was talking to some of our younger guys about getting in to the trash can cleaning business. There are companies that make all in one trucks that clean these cans.

Just need to get it publicized that "Trash Cans Kill" in the tree hugger, over protective mothers community and a couple Fouci news stories and you will be on your way into a simple, profitable business.

And Only Fans will always be there as a back up!!

Then it will get mandated that this has to be done. The cities will be forced to include it in your trash collection services and your bill doubles.

No thanks.

Leaning this route, just want to maybe get out of the labor side of it quickly....

I've been watching this business for a while and not sure I see enough work for this (yet) plus initial investment on truck and yard to store it at.....

AI says... makes sense too, all those Trump Flag flying, snow plow driving, beaver killing SOB's are getting long in the tooth.

In Pocatello, Idaho, a promising service business or franchise opportunity could be in in-home senior care or specialized services like home repair/remodeling, or a technology-focused business due to the growing senior population and the city's focus on high-tech manufacturing.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. In-Home Senior Care:
  • Why it's promising: Pocatello, like many areas, is experiencing a rise in the senior population, creating a strong demand for in-home care services.
  • Franchise Options: Consider franchises like Home Helpers Home Care or Amada Senior Care.
  • Potential: This sector offers a chance to make a real difference in people's lives while establishing a stable and potentially profitable business.

2. Specialized Services:
  • Home Repair/Remodeling: With a growing population, there will be a need for home maintenance and improvement services.
  • Carpet Cleaning: This is a common service that people will always need.
  • Maintenance and Cleaning Services: These are always in demand for both residential and commercial properties.
  • Franchise Options: Explore franchises in these areas or consider starting your own business with a strong focus on quality and customer service.

3. Technology-Focused Businesses:
  • Why it's promising:
Pocatello is home to many high-tech companies and has been wired for cutting-edge telecommunications services.

  • Examples:
Consider businesses related to technology, outdoor recreation, or logistics, especially those that can leverage the Pocatello Regional Airport.

  • Frigitek:
Frigitek is a technology-focused logistics start-up that solves problems in the cold chain by providing infrastructure and services to buyers and sellers of perishable goods. Recently, the company broke ground on a large cold-storage facility at the Pocatello Regional Airport in Idaho.

love it--thanks for the reply, I will be looking into some of this.

Resell technology equipment. AI boom is real and the speeds are only getting faster. At the NVIDIA conference and the things they are doing are mind blowing.

hmmm, got to do some research on that, sure it breaks down to knowing what is useable and to who needs it....?

I think I would wait a little bit. I would defiantly take the tools to be able to do your power washing gig, That might just make a connection to other things. You can always use it as a side hustle. I would just wait till you get into town and see what looks promising

this is so true! we paid an offensive line coach who had some credentials and paid a pretty penny for training from fresh-senior year in the off season.
alot of parents and kids don't realize what it takes performance wise to play at the next level, and they all think they are ready for it until they step on the field and realize they under trained going into it. Creed humphrey the center for the KC chiefs trained with us as he was in the same grade as my son, and he said the biggest thing he underestimated going to OU was sports diet. Another thing I saw a huge need for that parents dont realize is sports psychology.
I know I probably needed it worse than my son, but when you have d1 coaches calling, texting, coming to games and then they stop, its tough on a kid, really tough, and the parents.
