Want to add speakers to my sandrail

I have a dilema. I want to add some speakers to my sandrail. I can not use boat type of enclosure since they are too big.  Yes even the 4 inch ones are too big. 
I want to make my own little boxes but don’t know how to secure them to the round tubing. 
 

I’ve been looking at cable clamps. I think that’s what they are called. 

I don’t want to do custom fiberglass. They would look nice but not in the budget. I have aluminum sides on the outside but nothing inside. 
 

What have you done to secure the boxes?

 
Maybe some side and interior shots of you rail for ideas?

I was thinking this, but my buggy is on the small side. So far I have been looking at plastic pods or making my own boxes.  Using cable clamps and screwing them into the box with nut serts. I think that’s what they are called. 

 
You have a lot of different options. You can make speaker boxes and clamp them to the bars with the insulated clamps you are talking about. The insulation grips the bars to help hold in place. Use nutserts like you said to bolt the clamps to the box. Now, you need to decide what wood to use. Also, you don’t need to put a back plate on your speaker box, just use your side panel as the back of the box. Put batting in the box before you install the speaker. Now comes the rest of the work! Old school people used to mount an automotive head unit to run the speakers because they are pre amped. So if you do that,  ow you need to locate where your gonna mount that. Personally, not the direction I would go. I would use your phone and axial makes phone mounts. You can buy a cord that will plug into your phone with rca outputs on the end. Now you can connect your phone to the input of an amp to run the speakers. Still need to figure out where your gonna mount the amp, run all the wires to the amp, and run the wires from the amp to your speakers. If your not a stereo head, the sound bar is the cleanest most simple way to put tunes in your ride. You can buy a sound bar that is pre amped and Bluetooth ready. Just mount the sound bar, run the power and ground to the bar, and mount your phone if you want to or put it in a buggy bag if you have one. Run your tunes Bluetooth and your done. I can help plan it out for you if you would like.

Has anyone used a non marine amp and has had success?

I’m looking into a 5 channel amp where I can run 4 channels at 4 ohms and 1 sub at 2 ohms.

I never use marine speakers or amps. If you submerge your buggy you have bigger problems than your stereo to deal with! Get a sub and speakers with rubber surrounds. 

 
No need to bother with stereo someone will pull up in a SxS and provide you with plenty of music then if you dont like their choice another will pull upand give you another option and so on.After a few you can walk around and decide what you ant to hear.

So I decided to make my own type of speaker enclosure for 6.5 speakers. I bought some pods for a RZR I believe. I cut them since they curve and I need them as straight as posible so I can screw them onto a 1/2 inch of plywood. 
 

My idea was to make the plywood wider so I can use clamps and t-nuts to attach them around the round tubing and bolt them thru the plywood. So I placed the “pods” where I want it and pressed down on the tab and marked the center of the hole. I drilled the whole to fit the t-nut from the back. 
 

Here comes the part that I need help with. For the life of me I can not get the bolt to insert into the t-nut. The clamp puts the bolt in a slight angle and won’t thread into the t-nut. I decided to move the clamp and make another hole. That didn’t work. 
 

So far I have only tried one since I figured I would have to mount one then mark the other whole and so forth. 
 

Any ideas on what else I can use to mount the plywood to the tubing?

On the back of this pod will be aluminum panels that I really don’t want to take off since I would have to remove my a-arms to remove them.

Can you drill the bolt hole in the clamp slightly bigger so the bolt will be straight?

I guess I could. 
I don’t really wanna do this but can I use self tappers and go thru the wood and into the tubing?

I would have to make the plywood larger to fit over the tubing but that would be easy.
