Any V8Rail owners (or previous owners)on this board anymore? Hiturtle? Flyin Ryan? Sandblower? Crowdog?
So I bought a damn near brand new V8Rail sandrail that my buddy Big K bought new in about 07. He took it to Glamis once and Dumont once. Then He moved to Oklahoma in 08 and The car has been garaged ever since. It needs a few things gone through to get it dune ready. Fuel bladder leaks, coil overs are leaking oil, supercharger needs to be rebuilt and a few other minor things. Other than that, it's a time warp of a car! I rode in this car on his first run in the dunes and it looks just like I remember it from back then.
My question is for any owners out there....now that these cars have been around for awhile, what kind of parts are you seeing that fail and that I might need to have back ups on? Thomas and Stephan are long out of the business so any parts needed need to be made by someone else. And if so, does anyone have any recommendations on who to go to for fabrication?

I'm not sure, but I'd say that sort of car is not that common. Therefore, the knowledge about known weak areas might be limited.

What sort of trans do you have?

What sort of rear suspension?

I've seen a few of those, and they run good....provided that you have some meats in the back as the balance is wrong. Rear engined cars climb hills better due to the weight on the power wheels. Also, your front tires, need to be about the size that you have as there is a lot of weight up there.

Fix your leaks, dune it, and fix what breaks. Don't fix what ain't broke.

It has a Coan built Turbo 400 with a Speedway engineering quick change rearend. Rear end is an A arm setup with Coils/Bypass/bumpstops. I've ridden in several of these cars and have driven 2. They are incredibly well balanced cars.Screenshot_20250811-034821.png

Is this the one they did with clear powder coat? That's bad ass. Always thought they had it figured out balance wise.
 
Those brothers were on this site for year, out of Flagstaff?? Car looks fun, never got to run in one, I think Big k had a yellow one? 13.5 crew had one in that camp one time as well. Love to see that running in the sand again.

Yeah, Thomas and Stephan(Ashfork AZ) were always on this site stirring up opinions. I camped with them and Big K a few times out in Dumont. Really smart guys, they just didn't have the business side figured out. Too bad because they had a lot of orders coming in, just couldn't deliver.
 
At Buggy Roundup there are two of these with Whipple 4.0 on them, seems the major issue is the Rear IFS broke,
I think the had a Speedway Rear End,

I think they went to the Currie 9''
