I have an old.school rail that is licensed as a trailer.  I bought it out of an estate and I am trying to get it going.  I plan on driving it on the road....legal here, w.insurance.

It has a bus Swingaxle, w.reduction gears.  A 67-72 IRS box just popped up on CL for $70.  I could see that it would easily have $70 in internal parts, especially if I break a gear/syncro/etc....assuming that they match.  Will they match.

Btw, the engine will be a Z24.

IIRC all the gears should work, but the R&P will be a 4.12 instead of the 4.37 you should have now. Probably not a big deal with reduction gears though. Also I think the first manual IRS was 1969, auto-stick IRS came out in 1968. And an IRS with only one removable side cover is a 3.88 from a Super Beetle.

But take all this with a shaker of salt...
