Just a reminder to check your hitch for cracks or missing bolts. I found two 1/2" bolts broken or missing on mine.

Thanks Crusty, this could have been a really bad deal. You know safety chains won't help when they leave with the hitch. This is a 10k Curt hitch and I pull a 6k trailer. Those were the factory bolts that came with the hitch, I am replacing all 6 with some grade 8.

Similar thing happened to my Curt Class V 2.5" reciever about 6 years ago. Luckily I was towing my empty enclosed and had just pulled out of storage when I heard the trailer dragging. Bolts were all tight but the reciever tore and bent the trucks frame.
