Tonneau cover

I am looking at getting a folding tonneau cover for my 2021 Silverado. We have a road trip coming up in late July that would be nice to protect the luggage for any summer showers or have to remove fishing poles at night etc.  any recommendations on what is the better brand to go with.   (Or any GD hook ups).  I have been looking at a few different brands Ruff Country, Leer, but  BakFlip  seems to be the most popular.  Any input would be great thanks.

I was in the same boat a few years ago. Had a trip planned to Tahoe and there was a massive snow storm. Needed something to keep all the suitcases dry. I picked up one of the tri folding ones on Amazon. I think it was a couple hundred bucks. It has been awesome. It installs in a few mins. It’s water tight and has lasted 3 years so far and still going strong.

Do you know what manufacturer it is.  All the hard folding covers I have seen are a grand and up.

Just some anecdotal info. I had a hard folding tonneau on my last tacoma. It was a factory cover for the 5' bed. It was heavy! I folded it open and closed often and hated how heavy it was. It was removable but heavy enough that 2 people really should have been used. My current tacoma has the same tri fold design but is a soft cover and is way lighter. It's just easier to use everywhere. It can't be walked on but I don't need it to be.

Pick one out and let me know.  I have a dealer account with transamerica wholesale they have just about everything.  The hard tops are the way to go.  BTW insurance will then cover anything in your bed if you have a hard cover.   Some tweaker stole some expensive satellite dishes out of my truck one day and insurance told me sorry easy to steal without a lockable top.  I have had one ever since and I love them.  Only issue is sometimes I need the Whole bed of the truck.  depending on which one you get most fold up against the rear window.   The factory Chevy one at first was not my first choice but I do love being able to open the front part of the cover to get to things all the way upfront without climbing in or taking the whole top off.

This one.... i really like that the panel closest to the back window can be opened on its own.

Have you thought about a shell? If you're not planning on taking it off, I would recommend at least considering one. They CAN cost a little bit more if you buy new, but depending on what you haul, they can be amazing. I was not convinced they were worth it until I bought a truck with one. Have had it off of my truck for the last few days in hopes of picking up a cab over camper, and it sucks not having it haha. Its secure, ton of room, lockable, I have even camped in it a few times with my wife (built a platform for the bed that holds a queen sized mattress on top and leaves room for storage underneath) and I dont ever have to worry about whats back there. Its pretty much a huge trunk. I cant imagine not having one now.

Never was a fan until I got one.   Now I can't believe I didn't have one before.

One thing to grab when you do get a cover is one of the hooks you use to open a RV awning.  makes it easy to grab the items that roll up to the front of the bed

Only bummer about the hard tri-folds is when you need the bed for larger items, you have this weird 90s Saab convertible action folded up against the window.  

Either way you go, don't forget to add a 2x6 (or gold bars, given the price of lumber right now) across the back to keep chit from sliding ALL the way forward:
