So I have managed a storage facility for prob 8 years as a side job. its on my own time after my day job.
So last Friday about 3am my phones ringing off the wall. I also manage 30 duplexes and a couple commercial shopping centers as a side job lol, so I figured it was probably a tenant saying the heat wasn't working or something and I refused to answer it. they would call and then not leave a voice mail, call back and it kept going. After 5 calls the number changed and kept going. So i call the first number back and its Lt. Williams Moore PD. We have a trailer we need you to come ID. Im thinking hell is my 5th wheel gone from up there?
So the cop happened to be driving by and saw the truck pull out and noticed the front entry gates were just "flapping in the wind" and thought something wasn't just right so he lit them up.
So I throw on some clothes, go to where he's at, there's 7 cop cars about a mile from the storage. They have a 08 cc chevy pulled over with a white enclosed trailer pulled over. I go up and talk to the LT and he says do you recognize this trailer. Nope, then I open the inside and see a banner that says tillson racing and I said yep that's brians trailer. So he says go down to the storage and see if anythings wrong. Well its 4am and I find where they cut the fence in the back, then disassembled my gate controllers up front and threw all the parts in the grass. I see a busted window on an electrical companies van, so I shoot the LT a text yes we have damage, so he arrests all 3 of the guys in the truck. All white males about 27 yrs old.
After I called the electrical companies owner, he was headed to the gym so swung by. He had an old 06 escalade they used as a back up vehicle, well they couldn't break the door handle so they sawzalled the damn passenger door skin all up, got inside, ripped the whole dash out, cut all the wires under the hood, cut the inner fender well and cut all those wires, broke out a window on one van, cut the cats off 6 of 3 vans/trucks and even took the time to jack up an old miata that doesnt' r run to cut that cat. Stole one tool worth 4k from the electrical van, and who knows what else they got until someone figures out somethings missing. I park my 5th wheel under a light and they moved my grab handle out and left it alone.
They broke into a trailer and stole a vacuum and left the cord, tried to steal the couch it looked like.
They were charged with 3 counts of 3rd degree burglary, knowingly receiving/concealing stolen property, possession of implements of burglary, grand larceny of a motor vehicle (trailer), vandalism. One is still in jail, the other 2 clowns are out.
I am so thankful my tenants all understood and were more concerned with the storage and getting it put back together than their own losses.
