Folks,

Im looking for some suggestions on some good "reads".  Id like something in the "self help/Motivation/constructive attitude" kind of a thing.  Years ago I listened to Lee Iacocca's book "where have all of the leaders gone" & it was quite motivating.  listening to him discuss how he overcame huge obsolesces & get chit done, was super motivating.  If any of you have any suggestions on something in that genres, I would be appreciative.  Im not a "new years resolution" kind of person, but do believe that re-focusing on area's of life that need a kick in the arse does help to "steer the ship back on course".

Like most of us I spend a good bit of time in the car, so Digital format would be preferred.

thanks

Bob

I do about 2 audio books a week; and sometimes motivation or the will to be happy about your situation or position comes from the least expected topic or genre.

you can find personal motivation in alot of thomas sowells books. He preaches personal accountability.

books about other peoples struggles. The adam brown story is a great motivator, the book tap code will make you realize you can get through alot; unbroken the book is as always a million times better than the movie and a motivator in the sense that you can endure alot

you dont necessarily need a self help book to find lessons to help yourself. You can find it in much more interesting subjects if your mind is open to seeing it where it is

That is a great read and completely agree on it being way better than the movie. The movie doesn't do it justice at all.

If his full story cant get you to stop feeling sorry for yourself and situation; or believe you cant do it, there is no book that can help you

How to win friends and influence people  by dale carnegie is a really popular one. Infact was one of charles mansons favorites 😂

but it is a good book over 30 million copies sold

I use the “libby” app. Its free and through your local library so will need to register your library card. Lots of good books are disappearing from the database. Pretty sad. I want to go back sometimes and read again a few years later and many books are gone

top of mind is a patton biography. Interesting man. Why they’d remove it is beyond me.

I just finished "Unbroken" by Loren Hillenbrand.  its the story of Louis Zamparini.  Every time I think the guy is going to catch a break it gets worse.  AMAZING Story about an amazing man.  Ive said it a number of times, but that generation of folks really were the greatest generation.  the things they went through.  Three thumbs enthousiastically up!!!

up next, 7 habits of highly successful people.  Ive read it before, time for a refresher.  It all starts between the ears & radiates out from there.

The part in the book that stuck in my mind the most interestingly enough was the mention of forced eugenics/sterilization that was happening in california in the 1930s.
more “forgotten” history we don’t talk about.
