STU, why there the best and expensive… Enjoy

I was fortunate to see the leofess at Fullerton Sand Tire before they closed down. When Cody, the new owner of STU, bought the business and moved it go Salt Lake City I didn't think much about it. But supply and demand set the standards, especially during the Rona. I've been fortunate to have built a business relationship Cody and have transported several loads of his paddles from SLC to Kartek whenever we are in the area and have an empty trailer. 

Two seasons ago when my 16.50 X 17 Sport Tires of America were done I switched to 36 Extreme paddles. I'm now back on STU 36 X 17 Blaster #2 and very happy with them.

 
Sure wish he would make a run of the Dune Sports. :classic_sad:

 
super cool to see how its done.  looks pretty easy when you have the right tools.

 
Am I missing something. This just shows how the paddles are trimmed / hot knifed. Would love to see the process of how the actual entire tire is made. Assuming it’s similar to regular tires??

 
When I worked at Fullerton I'd see them turn the tires on a rotisserie with a heat lamp in front of it,, then use the hot knife to cut them. Pretty cool

Simple... At least on the part of STU - They click the buy it now button on Alibaba and the entire shows up at their door ready for the hot knife. :classic_rolleyes: :classic_rolleyes: :classic_rolleyes:  

 
Stupid question: why don’t they just make the tires with the correct number of paddles vs making them and cutting them off?

Yes I had about that many also but then he wanted to make 50 pairs and keep 25 to sell. Then I'd be stuck with about 10+ pairs to try to sell against his 25. Oh well. I'll just use the smaller ones.

All the blades on the tire are not the same.  There are different profiles.  That's why he was leaving every third one.

They have three different paddles, all three are different heights for different horse power ranges, most of the bigger car stuff only has two, the UTV tires have three.

These tires are made on the east coast. Similar to regular tire process. one of the very few truly all American sand tires. Yet, another reason they are more expensive, but yet better quality then the rest. 
I just got my grandpa new tires, front and backs for his buggy. 18 years on the same Padla traks and front Razors... no massive chunks missing, still holding air just fine. infact, a friend ended up buying his old tires and are still running them!!
