El Centro, Calif — Caltrans maintenance crews will close State Route 78 (SR-78), near the community of Glamis, from Gecko Road to Ted Kipt Road Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for pavement work. Work is expected to continue through mid-November.

Eastbound and westbound SR-78 traffic will be switched to a single open lane with highway worker flaggers using one-way traffic control. A pilot vehicle will escort motorists one direction at a time on the open lane. At no time will both lanes of the highway close.

Traffic delays of up to 10 minutes are expected depending on traffic queues, and motorists are advised to allow additional travel time to reach their destinations. Travelers in the area are reminded to watch for highway workers and construction equipment and to Be Work Zone Alert.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, traffic incidents, or other construction-related reasons.
