So we have this 65 mustang that the customer ended up giving to us. Someone had done some paint work on it and then when the floor pans got cut out realized the body was too far gone to try save. This is a real 289 V8 car. I have some people coming in the morning and apparently cutting out a section of the fender with the VIN number and having a good title which I do has some value. I know my scrap guy would give me a hundred bucks for the car. Anyone have any idea what I should ask for that title and section of the fender with the VIN on it?

Drop it off at Ringbrothers with a blank check and it'll be repairable!

Back east that would be repaired without hesitation.  Floors, rockers, torque boxes, radiator supports, taillight panels, etc, etc ,etc are all readily available. We owned several Rustangs. First car was '65 convertible with  289 Hi-Po/Toploader.

No idea what a VIN is worth.

List the whole car. All of those pieces are readily available. Floorpans are not that big a deal. Someone will put it back together.

I agree, you shouldn't destroy this car. Everyone back east had to repair the floor boards. My first car had so much rust the only thing keeping everything inside was the carpet.

Because it is a convertible, I would not destroy car.

Sell it as a whole "Project"  It is not legal to sell a Vin #........... Let the buyer decide whatever they wanna do with it.

Make the people coming over to get the VIN and title take the rest of the parts with them when they leave, make them dispose of it.

As far as all the people who say fix it, yet don't make a cash offer to take it on themselves, leave it up to the guy whose family is in the car resto bizz to decide when the juice is not worth the squeeze.

Buy VIN and Title, get whole car with it.

The Best price is the most they will pay since you got it free.

I guess I should have clarified in my first post. Customer still owed us money on this car and it sat around for the last three or four years. Sold the motor yesterday and then the car today. We still lost money on the deal but was able to recoup some of it.
