So many of our Glamis memories are filled with the family we adopted, and we have lost so many of those "family" members. I don't know that any hit quite as hard as hearing this news this evening. For many years Hurly had no idea that Grandpa John wasn't actually his grandpa. John treated us like family from the moment we met, and he welcomed us into the group of old guys with open arms. With his booming voice we could hear him greet Devin across the compound with a "Hey bhole" and a smile. He was one of those John Wayne swagger kind of guys, what they call a man's man, but he still gave the softest of hugs and always parted with an "I love you kiddo." I will never forget the sounds of him being towed behind Russ' sandcar, swearing at him the whole way, but laughing and shaking off the sand as soon as they got back to camp. He is reunited in Heaven with his wife Arlene and son . We love you Grandpa John.
