I’m going to have to purchase a cell phone / plan soon and have no idea what’s what.
The plan I’m after would have two people on it. We’d want at least one new phone.
We use the phones to look up shiz as well as text / call, Mrs. Bouy spends a lot of time on her phone watching funny dog videos.
I have no problem paying up front for a phone instead of getting a “free” phone you pay more for via fees and increased monthly costs.
The main coverage area is East Idaho.
I’ve never bought a phone or plan, it was always handled by my company’s controller.
Any constructive feedback is appreciated, non-constructive feedback is even better.
Piece.

Verizon and Samsung S24 and you'll be happy...great camera, easy to use navigation, etc. Expensive, but this phone will last you 5 to 7 years.

Stay away from Apple...shit company that is very unethical (I work for a competitor of theirs and have watched their BS over the years, it's horrible)...anyone that uses Apple phones is just helping a shitty company in my opinion.

I love supporting a shitty company because their stuff works! and they have tons of products that work together. Easy Peasy because I aint got time to deal with no compatible lower income phone bull chit.

I'm a Samsung fan over iPhone. I also get the "Note" or "Ultra plus" models. I prefer a bigger screen. It's a pain in the ass carrying around a bigger phone but it makes using it much easier. I pushed my wife to get the same phone as me, there is no turning back for her. Same as Mrs Bouy, my wife uses her phone all the time watching pet videos and crafting videos. She currently has a Samsung 24 Ultra.

And ALWAYS get a good sturdy case. The OtterBoxes have been my go to for a while now.

Unlike Mac, I hate big phones that I can't easily use with one hand (I swipe to text). Drives me nuts that phones get bigger and bigger. Any modern phone is going do what you're asking of in the use case described above. My last 3 phones were an Iphone 13, Google Pixel 7, and currently a Samsung S24. All performed about the same with their own little idiosyncrasies.

If you're over 55, Tmobile has a killer senior plan.

Ask around where you live for providers, we have no idea what works up there in the frozen tundra and land of midnight sun. As far as phones all depends on Mrs. Bouy and weather, she took the green pill or blue pill while watching those cute dog videos. As far as for you go see what fits in your overall's all of them kind of work the same for the most part. For me I went with the one that had the biggest battery I am more of a phone call, text message Email person on my phone as it is a work tool more than a status symbol. I got last year's design and saved a lot of money but don't get to claim to have the best phone on the planet.

Tmobile also has a killer military Veteran plan. I get like 50% off my bill.

I've been an Android person since the beginning but my employer gave me an iPhone. I've had it for about 10 months now and I still can't figure the fucking thing out.
Go to slickdeals and do a search for cell phones and phone plans and read all the comments... you'll get clued in real quick. Not to mention they got some really great ways to get free phones without all the bullshit.

Well, you need to read up on "kill switches" for phones....don't want the government listening to you ALL the time... a couple of the websites have phones and aluminum foil packages at good prices.

I choose android over apple iphones. I had samsung galaxy's and liked em a lot. I switched to an apple iphone 8 because so many friends had apple and swore by them. Great phone but expensive and didn't do anything I needed that the galaxy couldn't. I'm not a power user. It did sync to my ipad so pictures and contacts showed up on both. Great feature. It lasted 6 years with zero problems / virus's. Still works but battery life is going slowly. Aside from price, I have no complaints with that iphone.

I switched back to android this last time but didn't get the S24. The S is the top of the line series. I went with a mid tier phone in the Samsung A54. I bought new from amazon and brought it in to my carrier (Verizon) to have contacts and plan switched over. Great damn phone. Great camera. I paid about a third of what a top tier phone costs ($374). Love the new 80% battery feature as it stops charging at 80% if I wish to conserve battery life. Still plenty of juice to last all day. This phone will sync to an android tablet and also my PC so it's easy to get pictures from one device to another. Finally, I use a prepaid plan through verizon @ $35 monthly. 15 gig with all the 5G speed I could want and free roaming out of country. I use about 4 gigs of data a month so no need to go with a slightly higher unlimited plan. Again, I needed to go to the carrier to have the old postpaid plan changed over to the new prepaid plan but the cost savings is totally worth it. I just completed 8400 miles of road trip. Ca. to Connecticut then up the coast to Maine, over to Montreal, around the great lakes and down to Fargo then home. The hinterlands from the Maine border into Montreal had no service and also a bit of the 89 through Utah. Enough data everywhere else to watch youtube or text/make calls.

All of my phones have lived in otterbox cases. All have been dropped. I've never broken a phone.

I’m with you on tablet sized phones. I use a 12 mini previous were I phone 5s and the the se which was same with more internal shit.

My mini is barely bigger but the screen size is way more being end to end.
