Trying to decide where to go after Glamis Thanksgiving and considering Rocky Point Mexico since it isn't very far and we haven't been to a beach in a while. I know a lot of you guys are in SoCal and AZ so I wanted to ask if any of you have been, what's it like, is it worth going, recommend somewhere else, and most importantly, what all is needed to cross in to/out of Mexico with the toy hauler, girlfriend, and dog? Thanks guys!

Rocky Point is awesome. We love going down there.
Just driver license is needed. But we take passports.
Gotta have title or registration for any toys.
Don’t speed through the border towns. Cops watch for Americans.

It's worth going. I usually go a couple times a year. We went over Thanksgiving a couple years ago. Weather was perfect. Recommend staying at Playa Bonita verses The Reef. Spots are tighter but beach has very little reef exposed. It's closer to Town. It has showers but I can't remember if The Reef has them or not.  For food we have a nice taco place we hit, also Pollo Lucas, and definitely try calzones from Al Capones (I think the sausage/pepperoini calzones are a secret as their pizza is just alright).

Awesome, thank you! I doubt we'll take the rzr out of the TH, do I still need the title, it isn't registered. We got excited about possibly going but had read about some kind of vehicle importation fee that I have to pay but is refunded when we return, so I'm glad that doesn't seem to be the case!

Yes. They will go inside.
There is no importation fee. We go down 4 times a year.

Oh.. couple items I missed. DO NOT BRING GUNS OR AMMO into Mexico.  People and friends have seem to forgot this. Big money to get out and time in jail...

Also your insurance isn't good down there. You are required to have liability by Mexican law. You can get Mexican insurance online. I just roll the dice and don't get it.

We used to go down there when you could drive on the beach.  It was sleepy fishing town then....now, not so much.

There is lots of desert there, but not so much sand.  There is a hill to climb near Cholla Bay.

You need a passport to get back in to the US.

I wouldn't take anything expensive down in to Mexico.

We lived in Ajo for 11 years.

Gulfo de Santa Clara, or El Golfo (south of San Luis, up the beach from Rocky Point) may be another option.

what is don't take anything expensive?  Nice MH?? Trailer?? newer RZR??

If need to find the title for the rzr and the bike, I assume. It seems like a fairly safe place as long as you use common sense, right?

@crowbar the guy just about lives there if anybody can give you the straight info it will be him.
