I'm headed to Reno with my dad and brother tomorrow to check out the Hot August Nights car show for a few days...Thurs-Sun.

Anyone have any restaurants they'd recommend?

Any hotel / casinos that you'd recommend for the car show? It seems like things are spread out (which is awesome) - but also makes the decisions as to what casino to go to a bit of a challenge.

I'll post pictures of the trip on the site when I get back.

Thanks!

Grand Sierra Resort is the main home base for HAN. They have a huge parking lot full of show cars. Can spend a couple hours to see them all. They have a stage there too that they play music from during the day and then concerts they play at night.

The Atlantis always has a good showing of cars. And then the Pepermill also always has a good showing of cars. Best part is they are right down the street from each other. Probably an hour or so to cover each of those spots. They have some craft fair style vendors at each.

Downtown Reno during the day lines cars all the way down the main street. They have a section there where alot of the award winning cars (think Kindig Foose caliber) get parked. It is another good couple of hours looking at cool cars.

Downtown Sparks they close down Victorian Square (the main street infront of the Nugget) and they park cars all along the street and all around the square.  Could spend a couple hours there looking at cool cars.

I am sure I am missing some smaller spots but those are the big hitters for car shows.

Then at night are the crusies. Both downtown Reno and Sparks close down the main streets and registered cars cruise down the street all night long. Awesome way to see alot of cool cars actually being driven. It is an great show. Personally Sparks is the better of the 2 so I would hit that one first and then if you want you can hit Reno the following night.

As for places to eat. We always kind of just hit whatever is around while we are out. To many cars to see to really stop and sit down. They do have a Johnny Rockets at the GSR if you like 50's style diner hamburgers and shakes. Nothing really to write home about but it is there. Downtown they have Brew Brothers in the Eldorado, they have good food and good Beer. That is one we do try and hit when we are down there.

HAN is a killer time for car guys. You will not be disappointed. There are 5500 registered cars and a ton more that aren't. Almost impossible to see them all. I think one of the best parts is just seeing everyone driving the cars around town. You guys are going to have a blast.

@Justdirt lives up in that neck of the woods (ish), maybe he would have some suggestions.
