How can one register their RV in AZ while living in Ca? I know some others have done this already. Would love some info.

Well, You are usually fine until you get caught... the DMV will make you provide proof of garaging in AZ... photos, gas receipts. There are license plate readers EVERYWHERE now.... if you use it in CA, it has likely been read and documented. Google earth pix.. If you google your address...does it show in photos. Everything is good until you get caught.

ND or sd....I don't remember which.

You can go w.a POB

Check insurance rates first. Mine tripled when I registered it in AZ from Cali....

Had a friend who registered his New to him Class A in South Dakota, said it was easy and did it all over the phone. Was contemplating this for our Diesel Pusher but didnt think about the Insurance issue.

Ain't nothin cheaper in Az anymore. The Montanna LLC thing sounds like a good option, until the state you actually live in finds out. I don't personally know anyone who does this or has been caught with Montana plates, but I hear the fines are making it too risky for a lot of people. IRV2.com is a good place to start the search.

I know a guy who has everything from his golf cart to his Harley from his wife's car to his Pusher all registered under his Montana LLC.

Just remember if the CHP and DMV is on you, the burden is on YOU to prove it really stays in Montana......good luck with that.

My moho registration is due in December. With the new inspection rules for DP mohos in Ca. I will be registering to my Havi address.
As of last week, insurance is almost dollar for dollar the same as in Ca. but the registration is 1/2 the cost in Az.

Is that really hard?
It's not just "I keep it there". You have to be able to show it stays there. Which is really hard when it doesn't. The burden is no longer on them to prove it stays here, but you to prove it stays there. Just like people who say they live out of state.

I understand what you're saying but what triggers the encounter to begin with? I'm a fulltime RVer and so far I've spent time in 20 states with VA plates. There has never been an encounter where somebody mentioned why I have out of state plates. Of all the RV groups I'm part of, nobody has ever mentioned an encounter related to their out of state plates (and most of us are registered in SD, TX, or FL). RVs travel.

The only scenario I can see happening is being pulled over for something unrelated and then being questioned about it. Which I still can't imagine being that tough to get through; "Yea, it's usually up at my other property but we brought it down to hit the dunes."
