I've run outboards since 2004.
Never had sand in the outer boot.

The outboards they sell today are really geared toward desert racing. Roy at proam advises against outboards for sand cars or Prerunners.

Have you considered the Gear One Super Greaser set up? That's what is going on my new Funco being built right now. I believe having a zirk fitting to service the CV and bearing will be a game changer.

I've prepped several sets Gear One Super Greaser hubs and they work great. This off season I'm converting my regular Gear One hubs to Super Greasers.
