I could use some input.

Tatum 2 seat mid engine LS small blower. Engine was a fresh rebuild with 3 days at Glamis, I removed a working S4 VW bell housing, sold it, and purchased a new S45. Clutch (Kennedy stage 4) was in perfect working condition prior to removing the TA, so that was not removed. The new TA slid right in. Started the eng, put in gear and it lurched forward. Fortunately my foot was firmly on the brake. Bleed the master cyl and slave cyl, no air, did not change the problem. Removed the TA to make sure the throwout bearing was on and to look for an obvious issue. Nothing found. Reinstalled, then I removed the starter, snaked a bore scope down so I could see the throwout bearing and pressed the clutch. To me, it looks like it runs out of travel right as the throwout bearing makes contact with the clutch fingers.

Can someone provide the linear travel (Or degrees of rotation) of the pivot arm at the slave cyl. pin hole on a Mendy / Weddle S4 /S45. This measurement would need to be taken with the TA Removed unless yours is using the full travel.
The attached photo is mine installed. It will not travel any further and does not disengage the clutch. I’m curious if I’m out of travel. My slave cylinder has 1.125” travel but will not move any farther than the dimensions shown.

Does someone make a thicker throwout bearing?
I’m thinking .150” - .200” thicker.
I also have an odd rubbing sound now with the new TA.

 yes I installed a new pilot shaft bearing.

Pivot arm free play is adjusted to 1/8” +-?.

Been a few years but last time I converted a VW bell housing to a GM I had to change the input shaft.

Edit- just rememberd that was a BMW V12 car and I converted it to a LS, so very different than what you're doing.

@Sean@Weddlecan help

I’m going to pull the transaxle tomorrow, remove the throwout bearing and make a .200” thk spacer to move the bearing forward.

The question I was asking, with the TA removed, how far does the pivot move? But I will find out tomorrow.

I don’t think you need to do that

you need to adjust slave more

jack rear up and have someone help you.

there is a ton of adjustment with external slave

Thank you CHRISJ

I pulled the trans, everything is good, repaired a stripped thread and back together. The issue was the slave cyl. I had to make a big adjustment. All is well now!
