Pit-Stop...Somebody on this forum posted about the movie.  It is on.   It is an old B&W.  It has a sand-dune scene in it....a bunch of water-pumpers running around  I watched it on youtube the 1st time.

We are on an antenna, w/no cable....20 some channels.  Anyways, the movie is on right now.  It is on the "Movies!" channel.  That is a pretty good channel.

The star/main character, buys his race-car for $200 and then works for $2.25 and hour.  My first hourly job, as an usher, paid about that.  But, "The Outlaw Josey Wales" played there for 6 weeks, so it had some benefits.

Watching the hawks facial expressions during the race is hilarious.

I might have 20 channels, but 6 are religious, 3 are home shopping, 3 are cartoons(not the good ol' ones), and 5 are Spanish. I really need to learn Spanish because they are the ones that look interesting!

That is about what I have....

1 Spanish

3 PBS....one of which is cartoons

10 channel on 20...., but the only one that has anything, ever, worth watching is 20-3, 20-4, 20-5 and 20-6.....assuming that you want to watch, Rockford Files, Columbo, Roseanne, and Kojak.

My go-to's are 4-4 (Grit, Westerns, 11-2 (MeTV), PBS, 20-3 (Swamp people and Pickers), 22-1 (Movies).  Sometimes, 1 or 2 others will have football.

It could be worse....I've been to a gym, or hotel, that has 300 channels when you can't find anything, at all, to watch.

The safety...or lack of safety in that is something else (no roll-cages, nothing but a simple roll-bar that barely goes above the head).  A seat on the rear bumper, stuck out in the air.

Very simple machines, an instrument panel on the bell-housing.

You'll notice...they are having tons of fun.

I started in the 80s....I don't ever remember seeing a waterpumper in the dunes.  But, I saw tons of em climbing Comp.

I love that stuff.

What a blast, the whole family could drive those machines...somebody's Mom was out there tearing it up..LOL

There is something about being in an open cage buggy.

Are you a Adrenaline Junkie or Duner?

I say the AJ guys are dudes like @ANGRYBUTTCRACK going full throttle in his V8, Enclosed body, Full Pumper helmets...nothing wrong with that...

The "Duners" are the dudes in open frame rails that can still see the grains of sand as the drive around.

You can't surf without getting wet. You can't Dune without getting sand everywhere.

I remember a Vendor Row tshirt in the 80s'

Was a cartoon tent with two pairs of feet..

"Damn Glamis Sand gets everywhere"

When I get back into sand car.. maybe even the RZRs cause how fast I run.. I'm getting these knee/shin guards.. Saw pictures from 2 dudes over a decade ago that crashed and their knees were DESTROYED when they hit the undercarriage of the dash.. I feel the same about wrist wraps, full helmets, etc. If you want to push it like I do.. I was PREPARED to crash.

Also, think about your fuel cell. I'm not sure if mine had one or not,.. I had halon, 2 nozzles to spray the cab and the motor, etc. but that wouldn't have save Geoff Nayler

(RIP) when he flipped his Lightning Mqcueen Car in G (no fuel cell, maybe he didn't know either like me). I spoke to his wife after the wreck . .. didn't know him but his original Lightning Mqcueen Car was my 'main' competition at the time I sold my SCU in 2012.

If you are an adrenaline junkie.. PREPARE to CRASH!

Be safe.

From Dave's River Place... can't copy the URL, just go there and you can find the thread by searching his name. Lots of good, but sad info on there. I should have died so many times (street bikes, sand car, other.. things.. ).. would like to live at least another decade.
