What’s up guys. I’m looking for some insight on how narrow wheels with paddles hook up compared to wider wheels, say 7-8” wheels vs 12” wheels. Anyone have experience or input on this?

basically looking to get a little more traction out of my 33’s without putting to much strain on the ring and pinion, and I also like the look of the narrow wheels with taller arched paddles.

METHODS WITH 36s RACER STYLE DONT BE SCARED

Honestly my favorite handling cars are low center of gravity with dune sports. The feeling of sliding sideways through a dune is unparalleled. My car with this setup isn't going to do 360 wheelie time like a funco, but it's also setup to be a prerunner and should eat anything for breakfast and give me the right amount of slide to have a blast. So it should be a perfect balance. I'll be running them at 18lbs so will report.

They look so damn good like this! I’ll have to check that thing out this season!

I had the unicorn of paddles for 4 seasons Sand Tires of America 16.50 X 17.  Such a great tire, even loaned them to @DZRTRUNand made a huge difference on his BFD car.  When those were wasted I got a pair od Extreme 36's.  Similar to the 16.50s.  THis season I got a pair of brand new STU 35.5 X 17s and mounted them on my 10" Bogarts.  Eff me theyre tall, almost 38".  Way too much tire for my 3500lb car with 650hp to the tires.  I'm pulling them off and getting a pair of 36 Blasters.  Before you type it, all tires mentioned are #2 cut.

Here are my 35.5 X 17 on a 10" wheel next to a 14.50 X 17 on a 12" wheel (standard Funco wheel/tire combo).

The cars (and sxs's) with the super skinny tires look odd in my opinion (when rear width is the same or close to the front tires)...they start to look like a mud bogger - not a fan of this look.  But regardless of looks, they probably dig deeper and as a result get a better bite? Slide less? I have skinnier tires this season - (but still on wide wheels) - I'm curious if I'll notice a difference.

I run 33x15 blasters, no 2 cut. Had 12" wide wheels, had them cut down to 9" not for looks, I just wanted to be able to fit in the trailer without changing tires, I'll dig around and see if I can find some pics. The handling of the car did change a bit, not as easy to slide, and does dig in more, especially from a stop, but all in all, I have no regrets, just takes a few rides to figure out the difference in driving style.

Like me a wide flat paddle with turning brakes and horse power.

Those 35.5’s are huge!!! Definitely way to much tire for my s4! Thanks for your input!

Thanks for your response, this is exactly the info I’m looking for!
