In search of a new set.  Have an older set of Skull Candy Crushers, a pair of Koves (broken,,again), and a few others.  Needs a new set.

Mix of YT and blasting my eardrums out with metal.  MAX volume and sound quality are important?

Anyone try the "Heavys" yet?

i got all the kids hand me downs of beats and i tell ya they sound pretty damn good lol. then i saw what we paid for them and for the new pair and said nope dad gets all the old ones.

If you are a money is no object buyer, I have these bose quiet comfort headphones. I use them 3-4 hours a day and more on the weekends. Great noise cancelling, great comfort, and the sound is good. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0756CYWWD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

If you want high quality sound, a set of Grado on ear  (Not over the ear) phones can't be beat. I have the model that supersedes these. They are an open back design so allow some sound to bleed out, kinda awkward when some of those tik toks start playing if someone else is in the room. I can't wear these anywhere near as long as the bose but up to an hour is fine and the sound is noticably better.  https://www.amazon.com/GRADO-SR325x-Headphones-Dynamic-Drivers/dp/B091GHBJZ1/ref=sr_1_3?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.dW4A9Y0y-g1OG2XA7Wz4mhZA4v9NQTlWc63ZX5QVdqdluyw5si23On7hhEP-Nlhb2v95CIX4qU1cxY9axblSsO0A0q3zpCpmKZ7Pf7plPKoHi1F0oRLWJ5f1DM2GSNUiSnU_EvxtV0c2z_FNVV8tOEWZgXnL8qNRgFY3saxr6dUFiErVNWadAqx3YkcSOxdTCif9FOhD16xlDyjofYnmMOEayMvU0RB-AuYbFcAXniVCzqvXyy7bYcjPrzlF1BG29CoBUARXPXeQcO5dGje43_w0fgVwZ9caFChXCAIwEhs.WTv5XKUOUyqwBhjQ_sS08rVK2Qh1ILm32Mbycx-mMis&dib_tag=se&keywords=GRADO&qid=1720395719&sr=8-3

I thought this was another PCI or Rugged topic.

I got nothing but following along.

I'm not afraid of putting a couple Hundo into a nice set..  I don't really watch TV. Just YT, music vids, or whatever.

Just something to entertain me while my wife dives into the latest series of boring ch*t on Netflix.

I did so many long flights with my Bose QC's  - definitely no expert, but they checked all the boxes  - comfortable, and great sound and does not bother others, I wore them for hours, some others gave me headache from the pressure wearing them, even voice on audio books was clear- worth the investment to me

@Fireballsocal what about Beats?  all Hype?  All the "kids" on the flights were always wearing them

When beats came out, they were all hype. The sound signature was very bass forward. Fine for kids that idolized rap and electronic music. Kind of like your first stereo with a graphic equalizer and you slammed the two left levers up as high as they would go. They used weights in the headband to give the idea of heft and quality. I haven't kept up on them so don't know if the sound or value has improved.

Being old, mine are with wires. They make wireless also. They are Sony and got them at best buy. Really like sound quality and work well for me. Not crazy price either.

The Bose quiet comforts are the best for cordless/bluetooth. Well worth the money, Beats are junk compared to them.  If you're looking to really step it up with wired headphones, then theres a huge rabbit hole you can go down.  I listen to a lot of music on my computer as well as YouTube videos, so I stepped up my computer system audio. My go to headphones are Beyerdynamic 1990 Pros. Super comfortable and sound insane. Next are some HiFiman XS units. They actually sound better but are not as comfortable. Both need a seperate amp to power. I have a few Schitt headphone amps and DACs. Again, super rabbit hole stuff, but I love good audio. I have a turntable and computer setup. 20240708_071952.jpg20240708_072117.jpg

Most wired ones are actually decent...

If you drive them with an amplifier.  Depends on how crazy you are about sound.  Guy like @Surf and Dune, high end is worth it.  I want it to mainly not suck since my headphones are while I'm at work or on a long flight, so a $99 set of Audio-Tech and a cheap Amazon in-line amplifier have been plenty.

I generally hate the super-compressed sound of BT, but I usually listen to lossless audio.  If you're listening to Pandora, or similar music service, it honestly doesn't matter what headphones you get (wired or wireless) so long as they're driven by some sort of amp to keep up with the volume you probably want.
