What are yall doing for oil change intervals on your commuter cars?

My wifes old Dodge van said 7K, which I thought was nuts, and did 3k to 5K and it lasted 200K before I gave it to my nephew.

When she went back to a Honda I went to 5K on it & it lasted over 200K.

She has a 2011 Camry & the Manual says every 10K, but the "Change the oil" light came on @ 5K.........

thoughts........... 10K sure does seem like a long time........

I grew up in the change your oil every 3000 miles era.  Now I'm more of a 5000 mile guy.  Shoot with new technology and synthetic oils, some manufactures even suggest out to 10,000 miles.

2003 Truck and 2005 SUV are always at 3k, since we bought them new.

2018 Mini Van when the Oil Life maintenance light tells us to...which is about 5k-ish each time.

Today's car do much better, 5k was the norm, or so I thought :lol:   10k seems a bit long...

I change the oil on my 06 camry every 10k. Sometimes every 15k

I've always used full synthetic high mileage oil with Mobil1 Filter.

225k miles and still going!

Oil companies love when people change every 3k 🤑

Everything at 10k mile intervals,3-TDI’s and my 05 Dodge CTD.  2 of the TDI’s run Mobil 1 ESP,and the Dodge and older TDI Mobil 1 TDT. If I had done a lot of towing I may shorten the interval to 7500.
My 04 TDI has 220k +++ miles

05 CTD has 110k +++ miles

11 Audi TDI 120k +++ miles

13 Cayenne TDI 88k +++ miles

I use full synthetic in all our cars and do oil changes at 7500 miles. The modern oils are far superior to oils were 30 years ago.

BTW...I don't sweat it if I go a little over 7500.

Yep! Same. Right around 7,500 on my Honda Civic/Pilot. The wife loses it every time I reset the reminder and then the 2nd time around I let it lapse for another month or so. LOL

Mobil 1 and any good filter.

On my older cars, 2005-2008, I do every 3k and use cheapest oil I can find.

Wifes 2015, I do 3750 per the manual.

Daughters new 2022 Kia, manual says 5k based on "severe" duty.  I will follow that.

2020 Chevy 1500, no towing every 7k. The old stuff doesn't even look too bad.

I'm with @THD , 7,000 miles or 1 year with full synthetic, which my car, truck and M/H all call for.

Since moving to Havasu, I hardly ever drive my truck.  It had been a couple months since I even put gas in it.  I keep getting a change oil message, it's because it's been a year.

Around every 7500 miles on my truck.  They use full synthetic oils and the intervals are a lot longer.

00 ford f150 with 290,000 miles get changed every 3000 miles since it was new.

06 gmc sierra lbz 130,000 gets changed 3000-5000.

10 toyota camry 132,000 miles gets changed 5,000 miles.

5k or once a year on everything, synthetic oil or not. Our new Jeep says 10k on 0W-20 oil...NOPE! Working on cars for a living, I see what happens with 10k intervals. The only thing I've pushed out this time is the motorhome and that was due to less than usual usage in 2020 right after I changed it. It also holds 29 quarts of oil. Getting ready to change it here in a week or so.

2021 Grand Cherokee V6 every 5k, currently has just shy of 24k on it.

2012 VW CC 2.0T every 5k, currently has 163k on it.

2006 Duramax every 5k, currently has 161k on it. Also change external Allison filter and fuel filter every 10k.

2005 Winnebago Vectra 8.9 Cummins, previous owner changed it yearly which was roughly 3-6k miles, I'm doing the same, currently has just shy of 90k on it.

1993 Grand Cherokee I6 once a year, bought it with 162k 10 years ago, currently has 183k on it.

@ElCaminoManT, thanks, that is the input I was really hoping for.  5K I dont mind, 10K seems like a long way out there.  but............. oils do look and smell WAY different now than they did 30 years ago @ 3K.  It would be nice to do oil evaluations to see what is really going on, but aint got the time for that........

I shoot for every three thousand. Don't go past 5k. Peace
