I have an old (15+ years old) cheap OBD-II scanner that has worked well. But it seems to be less and less able to read stuff anymore. Maybe it is getting too old?? I looked on Amazon for a new scanner and they range from $15-$150. All Chinese crap ones. Sometimes you get what you pay for with the super cheap ones. But sometimes with China crap, the $100 one is the same as the $15 one.

Anyone have any recommendations for a scanner? It is just for my house and gets used about once a year. Currently my 2013 Ford Exploder just had the check engine light come on.

a few years ago I did this same thing & ended up buying the one linked below.  I was hoping for something between Snap-On and CCC (Cheap China Crap), but there did not seem to be such a thing. to be clear the one I picked will not talk with the PCM nor the Fuel Pump, just the ECM.

Specifically I was hoping to find a tool that could talk through my ECM to my PCM or Fuel Pump on my Dodge because my super double throw down scanner would not connect to my Dodge any longer.

Look up Autell they have many version from cheap to full blown. This is what the industry uses when they don't want to waste money on Snappy

I bought my last scanner on Amazon for around $20 to $30 thinking that if it didn’t work I can return it for free. It worked, so I just keep it in the truck.

I bought one from HF. One of the more expensive ones out of the bunch they sell. Your more than welcome to borrow it and see if it does what you want?
