Please be cautious when a member PMs you and solicits a sale where you are asked to email someone else.   New member laura051 has sent multiple private messages to members here from the WTB Want to Buy forum, telling them to email another person who has what they are looking for.  

Always notify an admin or moderator if your suspicious about a pm or post. 

This new member sent me a pm re Honda Generators.  

 
She pmd me / I replied in pm that  my buddy already purchased a adapter plate

do I need to do anything?

I got a PM from this person as well. Stunk like scammer instantly. GM I was going to send it to you at some point today but now I won't need to.

 
I've already locked them down as a scammer. All good here.  I wouldn't email that person.

 
Yep, been hit up 2 times in the last couple of months.  first time I almost bit............

it happened to me off another site.  I got a PM from a newer member (should have paid attention) on a thread of me looking for a part.  The PM said to contact this guy at "insert email addy" as he doe not get on the forums.  I emailed and back and forth i was even sent a picture of what i was looking for.  I Zelled $75 to the guy and never heard from either one again.  

 
the thing that keyed me in was the "contact this guy, he has one", but I contacted him and he gave me a nuts price (say it was $500).  I thought "$500.......... if hes going to be ridiculous then I will too..."  I offered him $200 & he came right back & said "sure, send it to me @ x.x.snkdljsjsksdld"............

A quick google search on the email address & it had all kinds of red flags... 

 
I got the same msg....

Fordmckay and I (we) emailed back and forth.  I was looking for an engine adapter.  He said that he had it.... $185, shipped.....a darn good price.

I almost jumped on it.  At the last little bit, I asked for a picture.  He sent me a pic of a Weber carb to Nissan V-6 adapter.  I says dat ain't it.  He says I have it, I says, send me a pic, he says, WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE.  i heard a train coming (A loud warning horn).  I says a VW flywheel and an adapter plate.  I haven't heard back.
