1st I swear I had an account on here I made like 17 years ago, but I guess that is long gone...

Our 2005 Doge 3500 is running poorly.  It is making some kind of ticking noise, which I think is a leak near the headers (maybe a cracked header).

I also get a strange noise at higher RPMs when towing, maybe the turbo or some belt that I can't figure out. (some kinda strange squeel).  The serpentine belt was alreardy replaced and that was not the issue.  I can't really reproduce it without the trailer behind it.

I don't think I'm really up for fixing these problems myself so I guess I need diesel mechanic recommendations in the San Diego County Area.

Thanks!

I had one in a service truck and I changed the belt and tensioner. It turned out the exhaust gaskets were blown out and it was causing a whistle under load and a weird sound when idling and cruising.

NTG Racing off the 67. Joe and Pablo are genius when it comes to Cummins, That’s what they specialize in.

talk to Joe, he is the owner

That might be it!

I was really surprised that the gasket was multiple thin layers of bonded steel.
Yup. Factory gaskets are that way. Some dense aftermarket graphite gaskets available that work well with heads and manifolds that have poor mating surfaces
