Are stock vw wheels with 155/60r15 tires the narrowest wheel/tire combo for loading on a narrow trailer besides using guniwheel or a plywood wheels (so basically the lug nuts are the widest points)?

Is that what they call a 'stock VW wheel 4.5" '?View attachment 73492
this is what I had on the front of my buggy & the lug nuts were damm near the widest part. I had to put a 3/8" spacer behind the wheel or it would hit the caliper.
Thanks for the idea. If it comes down to that, I'll do it.I saw a guy a few years on cement flats that made wheels w/ two layers of plywood.
Appreciate the idea.I used volvo spare donuts, redrilled them for hubs, not the adapters. So it gained me about 2" on both sides since I removed the adapters
Thanks for the idea.I made some from spare tires. Flush to the outside lugs.

A narrow trailer is limiting my selection of sandcars. Thanks for the idea, that sounds like an easy plan.Put the stock VW wheels on backwards. Did that on my car for years. Just need to make sure the valve stem clears the brake caliper.
I dont know for certain it was REALLY skinny & the tire was a doughnut spare. I never measured it, so I dont know for certain & I cant find any better pictures of it. I dont think it could have been any wider than 4.5".Is that what they call a 'stock VW wheel 4.5" '?
